They raise the number because they claim most petitions will hit the 25,000 mark within 9 days, and they want to respond to petitions that are serious...
Guess they didn't like the Death Start Petition...

So I guess they will keep increase the number until is meaningful in an election, lets say maybe 1,000,000 signatures, that could swing a presidency, until then, they will just answer "Sorry Can't Do" and move along.

Ahhh, the illusion that our voice matters is incredible.

Haha, what a bunch of bums.

No one insisted that they do this, the online petition was THEIR idea.

Regardless, they ignore issues which dont fit in with their globalist agenda, so whats the difference?

Show me a petition that has actually resulted in ACTION that wasn't already a part of the White House platform or agenda anyway.

These petitions are as entertaining as Survivor to watch develop..and as meaningful to sign as a vote for American Idol. Everyone certainly gives the White House political teams unlimited free data for demographics and who believes what within which groups and areas of the nation. I'm sure they appreciate the time and work saved when people actually come and voluntarily give what otherwise costs 10's of thousands a pop to survey or hold focus groups for.

Don't ask what your White House can do to you, ask what you can do FOR them, eh?
lol....

Compared to the overall population, 25,000 people isn't really a lot anyway. I've actually wondered how the government could have taken such numbers seriously in the first place.
Really, a bar of one million does make the most sense when it comes to making it clear that a large part of the population really is serious. It might even be a generous number... I mean, a million votes wasn't even enough to obtain Gary Johnson an official recognition in the next election (unfortunately). But he managed to get them, because people thought it was a big enough deal to try.

Agreed, but they should have started with that count to start with, why make people feel that their voice don't really count.
If they would have started with 1,000,000 only a few would start a petition, but that will look like the government is not listening unless there is a political cloud...

In my opinion is all a sham...

Tch tch wrabbit, why so pessimistic?
One must be joyful, and constantly expect the best from the people we so graefully serve.........No?
Petitions are NOT the answer......
Indignation sufficient to move this countrys populace will have to be coerced with threats of violence and acts of brutality of widespread nature.
Patience patience, that is comming eventually....the collision is inevitable...
I liken it to watching two huge ocean tankers in slow motion collision courses....
The ponderous movements indecernably proceeding to the point of impact.....

I like that large ocean vessel comparison. it's apt. At some point, and at quite a physical distance, you're right...the ponderous nature of BIG ships at sea mean they are going to hit each other and have quite a bit of time to ponder the event they can do absolutely nothing to prevent by that time. Talk about the sights and sounds of inevitability.

Now, all things being equal, I'd much prefer to see this thing changed from the bottom up and inside out. Given a focused enough effort by enough people who cared to try, that would work. It would take years....and that's the problem. In our ADHD culture today, it happens FAST or it may as well never happen at all as far as so many are concerned, eh?

Personally.. I think our BEST chance for change in a real sense and as a nation together is to have our own version of Tahrir Square in Egypt. That will take weeks..and maybe even a month or two. It'll take millions and not simply mere hundreds like D.C. Occupy had to annoy the Capital Police. It needs to be numbers the national government sits back and realizes..they CAN'T arrest and CAN'T stop for the sheer mathematics involved. Short of that? Well..... more of the same and SSDD.
