Secular knowledge is meaningless(in my opinion) if one has no knowledge about themselves. The secular knowledge in which I'm talking about is knowledge about the material world.

What benefit is it to be a rocket scientist, a doctor, or whatever is regarded as secular knowledge? These people can know everything there is to know and still be miserable. We live in a world where 'education' is pushed but what good is it when the knowledge isn't used in an efficient way that brings a relief of suffering to those in the world? Children are educated to hopefully one day contribute to society but society is a losing battle. Many predict that humans will one day be no more.

Maybe society should be concerned with the knowledge of the self instead of avoiding the most important thing in life.

Troll thread for uneducated people to gloat about being uneducated.

FWIW, There are plenty of scholars who claim deep spiritual ties.......There are even subjects devoted to such at Universities.

Maybe you should consider getting an education firstly and then pass judgement as to whether it removed your ability to philosophize spiritually.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying that secular knowledge alone is not enough to help someone through mental/emotion suffering, thus it is meaningless to help someone. Secular knowledge with knowledge of the self can go a long way in helping people.

and so if those highly educated examples devoted that time, energy and finances to spiritual endeavors instead of "the system" would they be saving the world instead of themselves?

What a load of BS! Care to prove that every successful psyche case in history was wholly the result of religious(or non-secular) activities?

I don't think that you understand what secular means.

The definition of secular is not limited to religion and using wikipedia isn't saying much. You are thinking I'm talking about religion, which I'm not, and you are negating my explanation of what I meant so you can push your opinion that your right and I'm wrong. Also I stated that this was my opinion so for you to be so offensive concerning someones opinion is concerning. Do you hear me saying your opinion is bs? I can understand you don't agree but your approach to expressing your opinion comes off as arrogant.

I think that you have pigeon-holed yourself as a loser and you blame your situation on the "smart people" because you are too self centered to accept responsibility for your own actions.

If we look at your statement ....

I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying that secular knowledge alone is not enough to help someone through mental/emotion suffering, thus it is meaningless to help someone.

"...thus it is meaningless to help someone."

Really?

Do you seriously believe that?

Thank Christ/Allah/Krishna/Colonel Sanders that there are still people in the world who think differently to yourself.

Well I respect your opinion of disagreement, but I don't know how you got that I am a self centered loser who takes no responsibility and blames everyone else.

I was thinking about this the other night. how futile the pursuit of "knowledge is" when the only real way to know something is to experience it for yourself transcendentally. We waste our time memorizing pointless facts and figures and do very little to ameliorate our souls.

People in your surrounding don't have the great mind you do. They are not informed or left you ignorant on a matter they will start to see as null. What is usual about these things is that if it can get worse, it can get worse.

My experience,

they told themselves I always know everything so my surrounding kept something secret, yet of importance and they were so keen to shuffle it in the bottom drawer it was harmfull to myself. Something I could not know by myself yet seemed to be a matter of the heart. Now I wonder, did they just forget? NOW I wonder, I wonder about the wrong things. They made if feel of great importance and now it seems to be of small importance, even no importance, right now at this very moment. Great suffering from nothing is unreal.
Assholes.
