Why stop there?! Confiscating guns from the government will not really accomplish anything. If we want REAL change then we are going to have to confiscate the guns from Hollywood!

Okay, never mind...

You know that Liam Neeson, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood et al all play fictional characters, right?

Thanks for the post…

I do think that Hollywood has more people who HAVE NO BUSINESS OWNING GUNS under the current laws. Maybe we should look into THAT before we make new ones!

Very nice thread. Our government is extremely armed, it is true. And anyways, what is up with this recent talk of complete disarmament I keep on hearing about? That doesn't seem like it is even possible.

Thank you!

This is another step toward the police state; complete totalitarian control.

It doesn’t “seem possible” but it is….support the 2nd!!

I always thought of it this way, after I learned how to think:

If you have nothing to fear from me,you throw down your gun first and then I will.

They won't because they fear us,that's why they want to disarm us.

Their power comes from us,in the early times of this country the government realized this.

Guns won't be the issue, they have their fingers poised over the switch to flip off your power.

No power,no internet for any but those who don't make the wrong noises.

It's a rather delicate balance for the moment.

Sadly I believe the 2nd Amendment will die a slow, painful death. The real key this time around is to tie gun ownership to mental health. Soon, the Fed will be able to deny gun ownership to anyone they deem 'mentally ill', it will start off slow with the obvious paranoid schizophrenics, then expand to include bipolar disorder, depression, and eventually those with ADD and ADHD will be added to the list. By then, any kid who farts in class will be labeled disruptive and put on medication, which will then void their second amendment rights.

I also saw some Congressman on CNN, I believe he was from CT, saying he wanted legislation that would allow the state to confiscate weapons from anyone who is deemed to be a "potential threat" without warrant. Afterwards the defendant could then go before a judge to have their weapons returned, so essentially they are guilty before being proven innocent. If this happens, there is sure to be that person who fires upon any authority coming to take their guns, and that will be bandied about in the media as further reason why more gun confiscation is needed.

They will also go after inherited arms, so while those of us who own guns now may die with them in our possession, once we are gone, our guns will go with us.

In the end, the second amendment will still be there, we'll have the theoretical right to bear arms, there just won't be a citizen left who is "sane" enough to legally own one.

Well....obviously because I am a keyboard warrior, right?

Move along...nothing to see here.

That's a good idea. Let's arm ourselves with keyboards and bash some friggin' heads in!

I think it is time to confiscate guns in America….at least from a certain group of Americans.

Let’s put this situation into perspective. If the intention of stronger gun control is to make the country (and the world) a safer place then government is the obvious place to start, right? If anyone needs to be disarmed it’s the most dangerous, murderous group in the world that has the most advanced weapons and the most blood on its hands…the US government and the military industrial complex.

Law abiding citizens don’t kill innocent people with guns…tyrannical governments and lunatics do. Aren’t those the people who should be disarmed? Do we want guns in the hands of people with a record of violence a mile long? Do we want guns in the hands of narcissistic thugs who kill innocent civilians out of greed? I prefer guns in the hands of honest, hard-working people whose only intention is self-preservation. Isn’t that what America’s founding fathers had in mind? Weren’t we warned about this potential threat?

Is it a coincidence that the most heavily armed, violent group in the world wants to take away your right to self-defense? What might their intentions be??

If guns aren’t an effective crime deterrent and good method of self-preservation then why does the government use them?

Let’s be honest…if you were a bad guy, which sign would you rather see?

I think I know which sign the government wants to see…the question is WHY?

Ask a Native American aka the American Indians what comes next after disarming the American People; ask the Native Americans what happens when you trust the Federal Government; ask the Native Americans what they would have done if they had known the consequences of helping the Colonists; of giving way to the invaders of their country.

"The purpose of civilians possessing firearms is to oppose tyrannical governments...."

Really? Who said that?

Really???

As Noah Webster put it in a pamphlet urging ratification of the Constitution, "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe." George Mason remarked to his Virginia delegates regarding the colonies' recent experience with Britain, in which the Monarch's goal had been "to disarm the people; that [that] . . . was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." A widely reprinted article by Tench Coxe, an ally and correspondent of James Madison, described the Second Amendment's overriding goal as a check upon the national government's standing army: As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.

Thus, the well regulated militia necessary to the security of a free state was a militia that might someday fight against a standing army raised and supported by a tyrannical national government.

"And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms....The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants"
Thomas Jefferson

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms”
James Madison

"The Constitution shall never be construed....to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms"
Sam Adams

"That the said Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of The United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms..."
Sam Adams quotes

I want them because I want them and because it’s my God given right as an America. If you’re suggesting that I wouldn’t use them for the purpose of defending my country then I guess I’ll have to really get under your skin and remind you ONCE AGAIN (wait for it….I know you love this part)….I spent 8 years active duty in the Marine Corps. My willingness and ability to take up arms isn’t in question and I don’t need to “play hero to the republic” as you so eloquently suggested.

I am suggesting that and you're proving it to be true... where have you been with your guns when the Patriot Act was passed? Habeas Corpus suspended? NDAA declaring the US part of the battleground in the war on terror, being able to take anyone deemed an enemy combatant or a belligerent, US citizen or not, and hold them indefinitely without trial? Why is it you will only take up arms if they come for your guns? Is the 2nd amendment the only one that matters? The only definition of non-tyranny is unregulated gun ownership?

Leave it to someone else to start a sh!tshow about firearm control.

Sorry to bring back the parchment but the 2nd amendment guarantees our rights with said weapons.

We have them, and the government has them.

Misuse of firearms... that is the issue here.

I was at the same place you were….here on ATS running my mouth as a private citizen. What’s your point? You think you’re discrediting me or this OP because I didn’t brandish weapons against the government?? Are you insane?

The 2nd amendment is the final straw; the proverbial straw that broke this camels back. Are you suggesting that because I haven’t made confetti out of some feds or national guard that I’m somehow insincere??

Nice try! I’m most certainly sincere….so much so that I’m surely on a few watch lists. I have nothing to prove, Kali.

I handle my business. If that type of action was appropriate I’d be in the mix. Right now that’s a silly notion!

The power is in the numbers. When the Government actually start the action of taking firearms from law abideing legal gun owners who have impecable history with firearms, well that's when the feces will hit the ocsilator. Responsable gun owners want those nutcase's and drug dealers and the like to be dis-armed. Not the doctor across the road who has a 6 shot revolver for home protection.

For one man to"take action" well, he would be just another nutcase. When a group of ten to thirty "take action" they will be labeled the "nutcase militia of where the hell ever" When you see large groups of armed men and women "take action" that will be labeled " Revolution" And that will take place when they start to dis-arm the law abideing citizen from every state in the union. Power is in the numbers. 7 out of 10 Americans own more than one firearm. You do the math.

The Patriot Acts, the FISA domestic spy bill, the bailouts of corrupt international banks, attempts at CISPA and SOPA, actions like the NDAA authorizing the treatment of U.S. citizens as “enemy combatants” without rights to due process; all paint a picture so clear only a one-celled amoeba (or your average suburban yuppie) would not see it. You and I, and everyone else for that matter, have been designated potential targets of the state.

This is not a debate it is a call to action! My post a few pages back was removed as I expected, but I am on task none the less! I advise you all to contact your local Gun Shops the ones seeing thousands of folks a day as of late, and advise them to what Wyoming has done and remind them that 28,000 or so signatures is all it takes to get similar initiatives on the ballot in your state.. That's not recruitment, but rather just a suggestion for peaceful action!

Be careful, though! How many who were in a possition to really speak out have dropped dead in the past few weeks?

White House wins fight to keep assassinations of Americans secret.
rt.com...

AMERICA IS CORRUPT TO THE CORE!

Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, Mao’s China, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, etc, all contained disarmed populations. The guns were gone, and as a result millions upon millions died! Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it!

Less than 500 per year die from assault rifles! We have a gang/drug problem in this country not a gun problem!

America is ripe for Fascism! Our highest offices go to the highest bidder!

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its a #ing duck people!

OUR FOREFATHERS HAD HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINES TOO !

Your Post is thoughtful and interesting.

It points toward some extremely important issues with regard to the 2nd Amendment. Our Constitution was written with agonizing care and specificty.

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were not up nights, worrying about PROTECTING the rights of Rabbit Hunters.

They picked their words carefully and the words are powerful: "AGAINST TYRANNY"...

No limitations, no special clauses about 30 pre-loaded muskets ready to be grabbed one after another (equivilant of a high cap magazine then).

FACT IS: When they could afford it, that is EXACTLY what our ForeFathers did to improve their chances against "unfavorable odds"... buy more then one musket and have them pre-loaded. They put a piece of greased hide tied around the barrel end to keep the powder dry...

AND, in their own way they most assuradly DID have HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINES THEN... (!)

It was called A WIFE and DAUGHTERS... ALL trained VERY EFFICIENTLY to "RELOAD QUICKLY AND OFTEN".... .. as FAST as a fired rifle was handed to them, they handed a reloaded one back...

SAY IT AIN'T SO !!!!

The 2nd Amendment is ALL ABOUT 1775 "Assault" Rifles ... ones that "RELOAD QUICKLY AND OFTEN".... in fact, that's ALL it is about.

The American Public may mean well, but has become pink, soft and naive.

7,000,000 Jewish People wish they had a few guns in their houses... AND in Israel today, you will NEVER find a Household without one.

Our Forefathers were not unintelligent and they had it spot on.

Americans need to stop speaking IGNORANTLY and following blindly.

We dont, we just dont have a voice! The media and their paid actors purport to be the voice of the American public but they do not speak for us! United we stand, but divided we have fallen! We need real action and no more debate! The 2nd is not debatable!

Have you seen what Wyoming is doing? We need to all do the same, it is the first step in unifying a real resistance!

I have had the exact same thought as the OP. When I think of what scares me, it isn't aliens, burglars or ghosts. It is the US government. The bureaucrats in Washington are either stupid or insane. Possibly both.

One statement
One word
One sided opinion.

A statement, made to seem like a fact.

And from the people that young Americans love most too.. how could these
comedians do this? Do they understand? Are they that hard up for cash?
