The mossiest Forest on the planet/my home

IT is now called "Fangorn Forest";but I have never called it by that name. I do not own the land-but it is "mine". If you travel there I will be watching you(you will see me because I'll already be in the area). I will include a video that shows the area.Please note that on the last shot(with the creek) I was directly left about 150 yards(they didn't see me)watching and wondering what they where doing.The answer is that they where saving the forest(or what is left of it;200 yards to the right of the last shot the forest is clear cut.

Thank you.The how too page sent me for a loop/I wrote things down wrong.But I have to admit that I've spent too much time in this forest to be civilized.

Don't let the video fool you.The Natives don't own this piece of land-a logging company does;but the people you see in this video played a very important role in saving this awesome treasure of nature(more than I did-I was picking Chantrelle mushrooms while these people were documenting a natural wonder of the world).

Just noticed my spelling error in the title-mods please correct if it suits you.My apologies-I have an old keyboard and it sticks sometimes.To stay on topic-this forest only exists in a less than 20 square kilometer area;most of which has been logged.

please try everything to save this forest or at least slow down the scums that are destroying it. Eventually, every second of destruction avoided might save the whole area in the end. But until something shows up to protect these lands "efficiently" be it a spirit of Nature or another power that be, nothing will be really saved and safe to be, ever.

And i hate to say but petitions dont do #.

The legends say that a large black bear roams the area and eats anyone who does not respect the spawning salmon or the mists of the forest. The area in question is also Sasquatch territory;and the near-by lake is rumored to have a monster lurking in the depths.This monster goes by the name of Stin-Qua(I hope I spelled that right). With our mill gone and the local economy in shambles since all the soft-wood lumber deals became the norm;we REALLY need an economic boost. An organized search for our lake monster would help quite a bit(White Sturgeon). My biology teacher actually mapped our lake-but he made a mistake and only went across the lake's width;if he had traveled the length of our lake the official depth would be 890 feet instead of 460 feet.

Like my home that looks a lot, like to come by for a cup of tea, would I. Hmmmmmm.

Just keep in mind that there are Rosevelt Elk in the area(they are BIG-over 1500lbs)and that they are not solitary creatures-they roam in gangs.

You live in a very special place. I've never seen old growth like that and it does need to be preserved. I hope you are carefully documenting everything you can about it, including the medicines and animals. It is a gift for sure what we need to show appricarion for. Thanks for showing this.

That's a pretty bold claim to be the "mossiest" forest. We have cloud montane mossy forests here too, though they don't have a name and probably aren't as large... However they are very difficult (and potentially dangerous) to travel through unless there is a path.

Do your mossy forests there have wild orchids growing (like here), or is it too cold?

Actually, Ken Wu (the presenter in this video) and Western Canada Wilderness Committee (which he has worked with for nearly 2 decades) have had success with petitions in the past. If you happen to have politicians in your area that are interested in their constituents, petitions may be a way to let them know your feelings. Petitions are better than nothing, it is a public record of what citizens want.

Only 91 likes.. Get in contact with this page/people and share a strategy. Something positive and productive.. Please don't go chaining yourselves to any trees singing hippie songs.

Down here in Washington State US we have the Hoh rain forest , which is part of the Olympic National Park. Start writing to the local cities to petition to make it a park or national park. More visitors = more revenue for the local businesses.

What a remarkably beautiful place. I would hate to see it cut down. Thank-you for this video. Watching this with mute on (not that I don't want to hear the point; I listened once first) is very relaxing and soothing. I love just watching nature quietly for no reason other than to see it and feel near it... despite sadly being quite remote from it.

There are many different wildflowers growing in the area;Trilliums, Fawn Lilies, Bleeding Hearts, Vanilla-Leaf, Wild Ginseng(very rare) and many others.

The trees you see in the video are mostly Bigleaf Maple and are not likely to be cut down.It is the surrounding Douglas Fir, Cedar, and Hemlock that would be logged. I did happen to have a talk with a security guard a while back and he didn't seem to think that the area in question would be logged. This area is all second growth(it was logged back in the days of steam-donkeys and locomotives) but there are some very important and fragile salmon bearing creeks in the area. Hopefully the red tape involved with logging an area like this would render it an unprofitable undertaking.

i don't mean to burst your bubble .. but..

I've seen WAY more dense moss forest than this.. so much so you couldn't walk thru it..

but.. kudos to yas for posting .. and yes.. it's like traveling back in time..
