US Department of Homeland Security Calls On Computer Users To Disable Java

Source

The call came in response to the discovery of a new vulernability that lets an attacker execute code on a PC running Java. The vulnerability is reportedly already being used in “exploit kits” which are pre-packaged, for-sale tool kits that can be used to commit online crimes such as stealing someone’s identity.

Even if your computer is protected by proper security software, it remains susceptible.

The current version of the Java application has been the source of big security breaches in the past year.

I'm posting this, for people who are not computer savvy and who probably won't get the message in the first place.

Ignore those morons. If all they have to add is "already posted", then they have nothing to add and should be ignored. That particular response is, to me, the bane of ATS.

Thanks for sharing. had you NOT posted this thread, I wouldn't have seen the information.

And on a side note, i am now pitching NoScript for Firefox to help with this issue. Because we all know that if you don't have java, you can't use 99% of webpages.
