How impartial is this going to be, Beezzer?'

Let me make a suggestion. Before ANYONE wants to the Judge the Second Amendment, they read the The Federalist Papers. It has to be part of the evidence. Exhibit B.

I will read them and I will be as unbiased as I can.

As in any courtroom, means, motive, oppourtunity will determine the validity or not.

I think you are going to understand why the 2nd was written the way it was, once you do. The mindset of our founders, is on trial too. You might not want to think of it that way, but it is.

I've received a fair amount of grief over this already, but as I've stated before; the media, the government has already put the 2nd on trial. I'm just providing an oppourtunity for the preceedings.

Welcome to the defense team!

Thank You.

Many people on ATS might not get the gist of what the second Amendment is, and what it meant to those who wrote it.

Well, I guess that makes us co-counsel, eh? This should be an enjoyable experience in research and information gathering. So what kind of time frame are we considering for working out the finer points and procedures?

Open ended. We have 5 jurors, and prosecution and defense. Prosecution will go first, whenever they are ready. I'd like to see, however, more participation from others who may not have seen this thread yet.

I also would like to know.

I will gather "evidence", and get with you, U2U. Sound good?

Sounds great to me.

@Beezzer

I agree completely in giving a fair (but reasonably short..day or two?) time for the majority of regulars to have come around and seen the thread or gotten U2U's about it to check. We definitely want anyone who'd be serious to be involved. Especially the other side in a sincere way, IMO.

As long as we get discovery for knowing precisely what we'll be defending the 2nd from on charges...

After all, Your Honor, a proper defense it does deserve!

Agreed.

All rules will apply.

I just invited a member to view this thread, see if he would like to participate. He has been the voice of reason in many a thread we had interaction in. Keeping fingers crossed....

Dear beezzer,

You've certainly set yourself a challenging task. How could I possibly refrain from joining in? I hope Destinyone gets her member, though.

It's been about twenty years or so since I last carried and used a weapon, so I don't think I'd be a good witness. If it's a matter of taking one side or the other, I think I could do that. (As long as it's understood that I'm representing a client and not my own opinion.) Or, I could sit in as a juror.

As I've said to the bosses of the secret society I belong to, "I'll do whatever has to get done."

With respect,
Charles1952

Charles, thank you for joining us in this grand experiment. Beezzer does come up with some doozies, doesn't he. Never a dull moment in these attempts of humanity at it's best.

I'm so glad you decided to partake....

I think this is an excellent idea.
S&F.

ATS is soaked and dripping with opinions to an extent that it hurts the credibility of everything and everyone on this site... maybe a trial type of discussion forces the people to stick to the truth instead of spamming opinions or trolling.

I'm not keen on partaking in this trial though, because of my almost religious stance when it comes to rights and liberties. In my OPINION a constitution cannot ever be on trial.
"Inalienable" is the keyword here. (This is true at least for the constitiution in my country.)

It's up to you, but if you'd like, you can be juror #7.
