It is being divided, worse than ever. There are two groups.

1) Live off the government freebies, have never supported themselves, complain about everyone in group 2

2) Those who work and are forced to hand over 40-50% of their pay through hundreds of state and federal taxes to support group 1

From your reply,I know you are in group #2.So I don't even have to ask.You are a proud hard working American. You love your country regardless.

Always proud to be an American. Best country there ever was. Ask any immigrant. Ask any illegal. Ask anyone who ever sought sanctuary - a biblical principle by the way. The U.S.A. is full of bleeding hearts on both sides of the aisle. Mega corporations are ruining this country. Mega corporations went to Mexico, Brasil and Quebec back in the days looking for cheap labor and no unions and lax ecologists. They were the ambassadors that trashed our name in foreign countries. It's that longing of the self-proclaimed elite to have an elite in a country that doesn't need elites - never has. There's division but not among the freedom loving American people. It's the foreign ancient elitists with their cow dung titles and unearned existence that want to bring Americans into slavery. Patronize your local farmers' market, your local home-boys' auto shop and your mom&pop hardware. Throw the communist Chinese products out of this country. Or, better yet, put a tax on imports that make them equal to an American living wage. By the time that gets added to shipping and trucking, we'll be done and made in America will become the norm once again.

The boards aren't just for Americans.
Sorry you don't get that I can speak freely on here as well to any thread i want.

I am not offended one bit...just a little put off at the fact you want to try to censor me for something I or you have no control over...where we are born, how dare me?

Suck it up buttercup.

The concept that you have no ability to effect change or policy is self defeating. We have great ability to do this all we need is more people to understand that they actually have to get off their asses and do something.

The U.S. may seem to be divided politically but as past disasters have shown...the American People will very quickly rally to each others aid in the event of a disaster or attack.

Many terrorists around the World discovered this to their detriment.

Again bravo Splitinfinity, another song comes to mind and remember "Just go and lay a hand on a Pittsburg Steeler Fan"

I agree with this statement as well...politically divided but its not real, hence why I linked my thread.
I saw the fake divide happen before my eyes and it didn't make sense.
The other thing you might not remember is this, when 911 happened,we were more then happy to help any way that we could.
Tragedy brings out the best in people, politics brings out the worst in people.

I don't want to offend you in anyway,if I did in previous post I apologize. What I meant in my O/P was that if Americans removed all the political issues between us and looked at the history and accomplishments of our country.Current events aside. Were they proud of that history?Hence with current events aside ,were they proud to be a american?

I do remember Canada after 911 they also made me proud.Thank you WE Never Forget.

Personally, I am not proud to be american, canadian, or first nation. Things like national and racial pride always seemed stupid to me. None of us chose where and to whome we were born, and most of us are not part of the ruling crazy rich people that are running things in our countries. Not that I am ashamed to be american, candadian, or first nation either mind you.

I am proud of accomplishments and deeds that I was actually a part of.

As hard as I try, I do sometimes bash cities, and people that live in them. Not exactly national pride, geographic pride? Demographic pride? Don't know what to call it

No, you missed my point. What I said was that you seem to have an incorrect picture of what the world thinks.
"..what the world thinks" is the title of your thread regardless of whether you care or not.

So I ask you after the polititics are over. Are You Proud To Be A American?

The title and O/P statement was addressed to fellow Americans. While nobody is excluded from posting a comment on ATS.I highly doubt that anyone who is not a American citizen would be proud of being one.Sorry if my O/P wasn't clear.

Proud of what? A country who's kids are more knowledgeable about their favorite sporting team than basic math or science. A country who's people are so easily cowed and fearful of almost everything. There are just so many ignorant (possibly even stupid) people in this country.
What is really driving America is it's immigrants who still hold the American dream up. I've payed more taxes (work for a major American company), spent more time working to make this country better (non-profits and other activities), than 95% of the people in this country and I'm not even a citizen. Maybe one day I'll become a citizen, we'll see what direction this country takes.

Proud to be an American? Who wants to be lumped with all the self serving glutinous idiots in this country. Proud of what American symbolizes and what it once was...YES.

I am very proud of our collective ideals (the right to live, work, and support our families without prejudice against race, color, creed, sex...), but I am not proud of our government becoming a world police force.

I am very proud of the fact that, in the U.S. there are SO many charities to help those in need, while I am ashamed of the fact that there are SO many in need of those charities.

I could go on, but you get my point.

I will say that I wouldn't want to live in any other country, so that's saying a lot.

When I clicked on this thread in a breaking political news forum I expected it to be based on some actual news, not just you feeling free because you haven't been prosecuted and the system hasn't come after you yet.

So you should be proud to be ignorant. America exists thanks to the millions of willingly ignorant.

Long live the system that 'works' based on no evidence.

Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators.
Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it

The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful.

Americans are waking up undivided we are tired...
Our big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.
We The people will not need government for survival......

Probably the greatest harm done by vast wealth is the harm that we of moderate means do ourselfs when we let the vices of envy and hatred deep into our own natures.

What's your point? Are you assuming I am envious of something or hateful towards something? You couldn't be further from the truth, I find it comical.
