Am i correct in saying Google images are old sat images from years ago or do they update regularly...

I have believed for a long time those pesky Chinese have been digging in for years, decades..The question is..What are they digging in for?

Everyone should do this but zoom out and look at the surrounding areas. This site is very near an established farm/population center and is likely just an agriculture processing plant.

Yes, it's there just to the left a bit. You can zoom in and see a little more detail. The image date is 11/17/2011

It reminds me of that facility they built in the Chinese mountains in the movie 2012. The place where they built the escape ships

The Chinese know something

There are several facilities in the area.

To me, they look like cement factories.

Maybe fertilizer plants for the local farmers?

Interesting pics.

S&F

I just found this
www.danwei.org...

Kashgar(or Kaxgar or Kashi) is the town near the facility.

That is just so crazy so interesting theres no way to find any roads coming or going anywhere in the area .. really cool! S&F.

I'm using Flash Earth instead of Google.

Does not show up on Flash Earth. I did an overlay of Google Maps and Flash Earth to show (Google is the "brown box'):

If I was to speculate, they are mining something in those hills at the top of your pic and then drying it or leeching it in the area towards the bottom. At bottom left it appears to be white stuff spread out in grid form. The single straight road connecting the two is covered with it too.

So, mining for something?

There is a Google Earth tag at 75.99346199999999,39.547471 for some reason. Looks like some kind of vehicle test facility, a track with all kinds of corners and serpentine test courses on the infield? There is an old heavily used runway just ESE of there. Maybe they are developing cars that navigate without a driver?

Could be some sort of alluvial clay processing or manufacturing of porcelain goods.

If it is this Kashgar then perhaps primitive copper mining and primitive refining oil from oil strata could be possible.

If they are really trying to compete with the U.S., it's probably the starting phase of a trailer park.

Just checked the same location on Bing maps out of curiosity, as Area 51 is a more recent image on Bing than on Google.

However, on Bing absolutely none of these building are even in the process of being constructed, I have no clue how to tell the dates on the maps, but if someone can get the date from Bings images from this area and Googles images from the area, maybe a comparison can shed some light on how quickly all of this has been built....

China builds some structures, no one knows what they are for (and conversely, what NOT for), and suddenly they have their own "Area 51"?

Let's reign in the conspiracy fever just a bit. Jeebus.
