Dream of standing in a food line

In the first part of the dream I was in a classroom or lecture hall. I was standing in the back of the room watching the students/participants take notes and then begin to work on a project in groups.

In the 2nd part of the dream I saw a long food line, like in a cafeteria, but full of adults and a few kids. I walked to the head of the line and saw a woman with 3 or 4 kids get thick slices of bread with huncks of meat (like breaded chicken steak or something about an inch thick that was fairly rigid). So I said something like that's plenty for me, I'll take that, too. The cafeteria server looked panicked but picked up a corner of the metal pan and fumbling around found one more piece of bread but no meat.

I realized that there was no more food for all those people in line and that there would be no more food for any of the people in the lecture hall.

I seemed to be an honorary kind of figure. I wasn't in charge but people knew who I was. Perhaps I was somebody's parent. It was OK to butt in line and to take advantage of my possition.

Sounds like, in the back of your mind somewhere, you are worried about living a scenario from the depression era soup lines. This is something that is not in the forefront of your thought, so it pops up in a dream to remind you that you have this concern. Just my thoughts, I could be totally off the mark here though.
