H.J.Res. 15: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

Remove the term limits, hack the voting machines (completed), and you too can have perpetual rule, even in America. Amerika. The end.

Weird. Liberals sure have a fetish for that aberration.

Realistically, this bill probably has 0.0000000001% chance of passing.

I can't stand Obama, and not because of any of the spin that's been put out, not because i'm racist (there are other candidates I have said would have been better) I just personally do not like his ideas, and how he makes light of governing, but that's irrelevant in the broader scheme of things, as it's my personal opinion, and well, it means....

SPIT..

However, this is sensationalism at it's best. Ever since Roosevelt and the reason the term limits were put in place... we've been having these people trying to remove them, it never works, and it will not work for Obama, so he will serve his two terms (unless he screws up and had to resign or is impeached [will not happen but i have to mention it as it's always a possibility no matter who is in office]) and we will go thru this all next time around..

Sensationalistic nothingness, that's all this OP is..

I think Obama should be allowed to stay in office for as long as the people want him to stay. He is the best thing that has happened to America and he has my vote for as long as I'm allowed to vote for him.

I think such sources rely on people who won't actually look up facts. It's rather easy to get birthers to go off tilting at windmills. There's plenty of reasons to disagree with Obama's policies... being an American of Kenyan descent doesn't have to be one of them.

ETA Even if it were so, this proposal would have to given the green light by the council Chair to make it to the floor, which isn't going to happen and further it would have to pass both Houses (The House Reps in it's current state would most definitely not pass this) then it would have to be given to each State to pass and would need 2/3 majority of States approval... never going to happen. It's good to stay aware though I suppose.

We should always be aware of direct attempts to change the Constitution but we shouldn't fear it as it is quite a lengthy process to do so. What we need to be looking out for is Legislation that circumvents the Constitution usually in very few words that are buried deep in lengthy, wordy, legalese text.

Just what we need! King to the liberals! I hope all you Democrats are enjoying this. It doesn't matter that the country is going down the toilet, as long as when it does your guy is in charge! Right?

Why are people so politically brain dead?

no wrong....this is one representative...it DOES NOT represent liberals....i can't believe all the hyperbolic rhetoric on this thread, and coming from the right, no less, with plenty of their own nut jobs.........people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones is the parable i'm looking for.

Teddy Roosevelt was the Republican (cousin FDR the Democrat) but he lost as the Bull Moose Candidate. The 22nd Amendment is one of those that CAN (not should) be changed....unlike the First Ten Amendments (The Bill of Rights) which were inalienable individual rights.

And while I agree 100% about your opinion about the 22nd Amendment, I would remind you that it IS just an opinion - not a fact.

If you read my previous posts you would know I'm fully aware that a few candidates previous to FDR also tried for a third term.

That doesn't change the fact that a 2-term presidency was not in the Constitution until the 1940's. It was tradition, NOT law. And that is FACT.

Seriously??

Come on, if the two term limit is changed, there is NO WAY the Democratic Party would back Obama of another term, no way. Why you ask? Because that would make BILL CLINTON eligible and he would wipe Obama right off the map.

If the term limit is changed, the Democrats will ensure that Obama doesn't run again and they will put the Big Dawg back in. Bill Clinton will then serve until the day he dies.

Although Obama is our present sitting President, Bill Clinton is the embodiment of the party and he will be put back in his rightful place.

I'm a bit indifferent on Obama. Sure, I support him in a way because he is our POTUS, so as an American citizen, I try to support our leader (it was extremely difficult with the previous occupant and I was supportive of impeachment with him- bush), but if term limits were taken away, I would turn by back on Obama like a bad penny. If Republican extremists wanted to disqualify him in some way from running again, fine, I'd let them. He had two terms, he did what he aspired to do, he's out after two terms. I support him in a way, but I don't LOVE the guy. But Bill? HECK YEAH!!! I'd walk from one shining sea to the other getting as much support as I possibly could, I'd put all my attention into insuring putting him back in office, I'd work and work and work to get him in there.

Those were the best years of our lives. We had a balanced budget, we experienced economic growth, it was before 9/11 and the nightmares that came with it, we were admired by the rest of the world, he was a strong leader who carried us forward. He had an affair in office, so what!! If anybody in the world deserves a "little on the side", it's the President of the free world!

Do away with the term limits yet disqualify Obama, fine by me! Bring on the Big Dawg!!! The Secretary of "explaining stuff"

If not, I'll settle for Hillary.

Down the toilet??? No, it's being slowly pulled out of the toilet after bush tried to flush us away. Obama isn't "great and wonderful" but he's a million times better than bush was. Heck, he even got a Nobel Prize just for the fact that he's not bush.

I'm not "crazy about him", but I like him a million times more than that little twit that was in the White House before. The mess bush made will take decades to clean up, Obama is only in the beginning stages. He's not made an "great strides" as far as putting it back where it should be, but at least he stopped the endless spiral we were in due to the little moron.

Put Clinton in there, he'll have the mess not only cleaned up, but turned around after one term. We could be back on top again and move forward instead of just spot cleaning.

Exactly. All this hype I keep hearing over and over again, year after year. The president will be a dictator! The world is ending! Stock up on supplies! We're all gonna die!

Pffft. Total BS and crap. It'll never happen.

Common misconception.

Clinton sold us out to China, and that's the cold hard truth. By getting rid of tariffs between us he played a huge role in tanking our economy over the past decade. Why? Because we buy -everything- from China and they buy -nothing- from us. So those tariffs being lifted ensures Americans don't buy American goods. Americans don't care where it was made so long as it's cheap, and they don't understand why giving our money to China is actually giving them our resources - they're simply too dumb or willingly ignorant on average. Why SHOULD they when American-made goods are so much more expensive because we're letting foreign workers be on the same exact playing field as our own, and foreigners use cheaper material? (There are plenty of good answers to that last question - it was meant to satire the herp-a-derp mentality that said ignorant saps commonly use.)

I say this and I'm a die-hard liberal. Clinton was good with PR. And that's about all he was good at.

What do you mean "they?" Why does everyone have to be so dramatic?

It's one guy with a really bad idea that will never pass. This is hardly what I would call a wholesale effort to try and keep Obama in office.

Don't you know? In America there's a saying "either you're with us or you're against us."
Near-sightedness and loud opinions are virtues in the good ol' US of A.

Just a few things to add:

1. This would never happen, it would never get passed
2. This rep must be nuts
3. I love Obama and he is 100 times better than Bush
4. The bill has no support

On a side note, I never heard of this site and it is great, thanks for sharing!
