A lot of that stuff is 'made for' or made under licence. We've had this before. What you can do, is insist on a same American or UK or whatever home built product if it is available, although you can expect it to be more expensive. The quality of build from China is likely to be from more than good to middle of the road, and not usually bad, but it is all according to what you buy. I wouldn't buy a Chinese made Fender guitar, although beautifully made it does not have that original Fender sound, same goes for Japanese, although they do make some good guitars, even good copies of Fenders that are not a Fender.
What we all need to understand though, is that China is fast changing, and it probably won't be long before we buy Chinese homogeneous goods, like many buy Toyotas for their reliability and build, (the current Chinese own made cars are pretty wacky and copyist) for the same reasons and cost. Remember Japanese cars USED to be cheap and reliable, nowadays they are not so cheap, and parts can be expensive if something does go wrong. At the end of the day, it's all down to where you want your money to go, that's up to the individual.

In one swoop , the greedy have bypassed just wage and safety laws that took decades of struggle by working westerners to achieve, and just simply employ mass by the millions slaves. The biggest disgrace in history.

Tells you a lot about the morality of the corporate owners. The bottom line is big profits and large returns for their share holders, to hell with working conditions. It's one of the main reasons why they're attacking union shops in the U.S.. If they can remove unions, they no longer have to worry about poor working conditions or people complaining about not being paid a fair livable wage. If they ever succeed in taking away workers rights in the U.S., you can guarantee wages across the U.S. will drop. Most non-union shops want to keep their workers content so they don't have to worry about unions coming in.

Those who argue against unions, don't realize what work conditions were like before workers rights. They also don't realize how worker unions keep other non-union businesses in check. If you don't think corporations don't take advantage of non-union shops, just ask workers at Walmart.

I work in corporate for a big name grocery retailer and can vouch as others have stated, this list is very mis-leading.
Quite a few of these manufactures are international and have divisions in China as well as all over the world which are separate from their American businesses. For example, Dannon, that is the American companies name, they have plants across the nation and their corporate headquarters is in New York. The company in China and Europe is called Danone Foods. Every country handles their business independently from the others.

Others on this list that are the same way, and I just skimmed through, are: Gerber, Smuckers, McCormick, Pepsico INTERNATIONAL and Kellogs. These are just a few I know off the top of my head. I'm sure if research was actually put into it that would be quite a bit higher.

I know for a fact that the American division, of 2 of the companies that I listed above do not get any of their products or ingredients from China, and those are just the ones I know of for sure.

A lot of sympathy with that, ASDA is Walmart in the UK, and in fact has no relation to the ASDA title it uses, and should really be called Walmart IMO, and I think there are serious questions that should be addressed there.
Perhaps the other side of the coin, is what is often portrayed and is really old hat, in that that unionism is an excuse to be lazy, inefficient, but protected. Certainly that happened, but what is sure is that much of the slave labour, has been transferred overseas, and one has to be a dickhead not to know that. You can buy a pair of perfectly usable jeans in ASDA/Walmart, UK £8+ upwards for the stupid bits, under the George label, how much did the actual maker get??

I'm all for removing the tax loopholes these traitors exploit.

But removing those tax loopholes will cause these companies to raise the price on their products, to recoup the lost earnings. That means the consumer will be affected.

The system is completely broken, and it works for those who control it.

All these company are an utter disgrace, they should have manufacturing in US and not in China.
