"I am accomplishing NOTHING on ATS" Why the thread then?

I am not doubting your position, conclusion or sincerity....but one of the tenets of Psychological Warfare is to take the Hope out of your enemy and thus take the fight out of them as well. Sun Tzu even said that one should only go to war when the battle has been won (strategically, etc) ahead of time. So it would make sense to see TPTB post threads like this to convince the concerned citizens that it is hopeless to resist. But you are probably right anyway...and I am only posting on ATS for entertainment purposes and am ready to turn in my few guns when they ask. We should trust our government as they know best!

I don't know man, I'd love to believe your story but there's just something about the quality of the writing in your post that makes me think that you do not posses a high enough level of education to be a wall street trader. No offense meant of course.

Seriously? Do you think there is a college major called "Wall Street Trading"??

Trading stocks takes things like mathematical aptitude, pattern recognition, some intution, and a lot of luck.

My husband sucessfully daytrades, after a long career as a programmer and data administrator. His writing ability sucks, and his vocabularly is somewhat lacking. However, stick him in front of a stock chart and he excels. He never graduated college.

Trading is a unique ability, and most who are good at it are usually not classically educated.

If the poster says he was a trader, I believe him, as there is nothing he posts that would indicate otherwise.

In fact, in this particular thread, and his original post, he shows himself to be quite astute as to what is going on, and what the inevitable result will be.

I agree eventually if we don't stand up for our rights as we the people this society will eventually crash, but is it impossible to change this society, no anything is possible but it takes time to change things for the better, but I fear that time may be running out, and we've wasted so much of it already as it is and, sadly I feel there will always be a few factors from preventing change such as vanity, the cozy life the majority people in the U.S lead, ect...
because we create our own shackles and groups, and we herd those groups ourselves as well , and if we stray away from these groups, and the small percentage of people who will go out to protest, would most likely be labeled uneducated people who feel the government is coming to take away alll ouur rights who don't really have any knowledge within the top their protesting, but these labels won't be created by the groups, they are created by the media, which people will blindly follow, without challenging it, because they live fairly cozy lives and they deem it unnecessary to challenge the stories they hear, they don't need to find the truth behind them, nor do anything because supposedly someone else will deal with these issues. I feel things will have to get worse before they can get better until something is taken away from the people they actually care about, only then will they try and find the truth, and do something about it.
Of course before someone accuses me of it, do I myself do anything? No sadly I do not I am just stating my opinion of what I feel needs to be done the factors we need to cross before this society can improve, will it do anything, most likely not I'm afraid, will I eventually? I hope so.

Good for him. Where exactly on Wall Street does he work?

I have to admit, I find it very difficult to grasp that a programmer has poor language skills, not only in writing but also his vocabulary. After all, programing itself is all about language. He's been very lucky to land any of the 3 jobs that you mentioned with his limited grasp of the most basic of skill sets that we have to develop in life.

I would definitely agree that the internet is a intoxicating distraction from real life.

It sucks time and energy that we could use to affect real societal change. It provides us with never-ending rabbit holes in which to get lost. It gives us so much information (both accurate and misleading) that our brains become overwhelmed and it's easier to do nothing than something.

While we're arguing some inane point about an obscure, highly improbable or totally irrelevant-to-real-life issue on the internet or we're helping Psy top one billion views, the PTB are actually implementing practices and policies that impact our lives.

I'm still not logging off...and I hate myself for it.

I admire the OP's idealism, but I don't think protests would do any good to his cause. Not 3 million people, not 30 million. The ones in power would laugh at it or at most send in the army to beat them up and/or disperse the crowd.

Now allow me to make a more drastic/radical suggestion that is peaceful and legal but would make those in power s**t their pants if enough people would get onboard. It involves imploding the system completely and starting over, but be warned: any attempt at gathering participants will be faced with violent rebutal even from "trustworthy" sources.

It's a very simple plan really, and will hit them where it REALLY HURTS: stop buying things (except for the essential) and withdraw all your money from your bank. If enough people do this, every single bank in the country will go out of business. That's a good thing all in itself because it will take away power from the worst scum on the face of the planet. Then as the government realizes its tax revenue takes a significant drop, they will probably be willing to negotiate whatever demands the people has for them. Yes lots of business will go into bankrupcy as well. But I honestly think this is the only way to return the power to the people.

Good evening, America. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as anyone else.

But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat.

There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth.

And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the newly elected President, *Insert Name Here*. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.

Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the "Insert Famous Monuments Here", to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives.

So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of "Insert Important National Buildings", and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.

V for Vendetta is such a good movie

protesting does nothing.

Here on ATS and elsewhere we educate ourselves. Every shill and moron has made us learn and push ourselves to become better. In the end it will not be a bloodless revolution or a violent one that will change a thing. It will be a generation of informed and educated people who simply take the positions of power in a real democratic society they will envision together with their people and make into reality.

there is no "asking" or "demanding". There is only doing. When we are ready to run for office, which we will have time to do so for another 50 or more years, we will simply be elected in landslide victories over puppets. That takes education and preparation. We need for the shills to keep coming and by their tactics, a better fighter in us to forge.

There is no "now", and especially so there is no "end"......

Time is on our side......always is, always was, always will be....tomorrow belongs to no one...

the OP is right, Without action all we do is akin to metal masturbation. talking trash and accomplishing nothing.

I have mentioned before that ATS is a pressure valve for the disenfranchised to blow off steam. To rant and vent and wake up and go to work and be a good little slave.

Nothing will change until we change it and most people HATE change they FEAR it. They FIGHT it and they will FIGHT people who try to bring about change.

All you people who think the government can be changed from within are delusional. You dont change the system, the system changes you. What happened to Ron Paul?? What happened to JFK?? Some of you people have been fed a fantasy for so long that is the only meal you eat now.

Im just here for the cookies and brownies. If you dont believe things are going to get worse just wait and see. Dont take anybody's word for it, time is the greatest teacher and you will learn one way or another. The longer it takes you to figure it out the more you are going to suffer. Just like nothing happened on dec 21st nothing is going to happen to save us short of a global revolution.

There is much truth in this statement. It is all a distraction. A big fat hairy magic show at the end of which our wallets are empty but we feel entertained so will accept it easier. Can't afford to go anywhere due to the price of gas but no big deal, here comes another video game!

I gave up trying to educate people ten years ago. The numbers have proven there is little, to no point. By the time people figure out they are chumps it will be too late. It started when it no longer became affordable to have a two parent home......

You would likely lose your job too. Isn't most jobs linked to sales of something?

Would you feel comfortable with 10's of thousands of dollars under your mattress? Imagine the rise in home invastions.

Your impressions of banks is skewed. Most banks do the normal mundane things at prevailing rates. If you agree with their terms, you should expect to abide by them as well.
If you are upset with CEO pay in general then I totally agree with you.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your point fully. What is this trap we allegedly fell into? It seems you're saying people think they're accomplishing something to stop the powerful from nefarious ends by posting on ATS? I myself don't think that, and I was pretty sure until reading your post that nobody else did either. This is a discussion forum. Nobody thinks we're stopping the evil [fill in the blank] by discussiong, debating, and uncovering truth.

I'm curious where your experience of watching trends has gotten you, and how it relates to your certain-demise hypothesis. It juat seems soooo unlikely, amd this is coming from someone who has a pretty solid personal record of seeing futures unfold, mainly based on logic and thinking the opposite of what the crowd is being led to believe.

Automation and robotics is getting to a level where the human drones will stop being a commodity and start being a liability. What do you think makes more sense, have an army of machines that work without question never get sick take vacations or go on strike because they want more pay or the opposite. If your job can be done by a machine it will be. Its not personal just good business.

The elite only need us to do the dirty jobs they themselves dont want to do. Once we get them to a level of technology where they can achieve that we will be "taken out to pasture" if you know what I mean.

There is one thing that can stop them in their tracks. Stop using their money. Money is bondage. In order to be free from the wealthy and the powerful, we must stop using the monetary system that gives them that wealth and power.
for it is the love of money that is the root of all evil. Everything in every store is freely available to anyone in society who holds the job society appoints to them.

A world without money is a world without the love of money is a world with far less evil.

Yes I would lose my job as well and have to learn how to survive without or with minimum income, perhaps relying on working with the local comunity for that end, but that wouldn't last forever. The goal is to reorganize the political and economic systems, only using a somehwat more radical approach then the "occupy" movement. In this context I believe that big results demand big sacrifices. And I'm not upset about CEO pay, I'm upset about how our lives are manipulated in subtle (and not so subtle) ways and our freedom gets taken away a little at a time every single day. I'm sick of being lied to by the press and the government. I don't have high hopes that my idea will ever be adopted, and I admit it's a better pill, but I also trully believe it would give some good results.

I really enjoyed your prophesy (of sorts) and agree with you in many ways. As a Christian who might even fall under the category of "Zionist" I find it fascinating. However, my definition of Zionist probably isn't what you are thinking of anyways...
No one would know the shin bet of a Jewish home like you do. Some of the very best people and very worst people grow up under the same roof. There is a reason for this, and believe me, with my background I sympathize. Its tough growing up with relatives who are against your life! Most people have never experienced this though, JAZ> Unless you experience the real under world warfare yourself you will never understand and believe it. It just seems like paranoia.
Finally, I really don't believe man is basically good and can pull us through this. However, I believe in someone else who can.
