So you admit you falsely assumed that nobody under 18 consents to marry "anywhere in the world"?
Those were your words.

Hence my link to the legal age of marriage where it clearly says that legal age of marriage in Syria is 17 and not 14.

Then those who indulge in those "temporary marriages" are wrong. The Saudi guy is even more mistaken if he got the age of consent wrong. Its simple as that.

Still, it would have been more honest of the OP if he had quoted the Saudi guy using the words he actually said.
But I guess, honesty is too much to ask for from some people these days.

The same kind of woman, who, in her right mind.... would let a guy get into a one night stand with her. Same thing... different culture.

No it's not. A four-hour romp in the hay doesn't bear the lifetime commitments of marriage. You're a religious man, what's the point of marriage? What are the benefits of a four-hour marriage? What is its purpose in context to a lifetime marriage in Sharia law? Are you telling me Muslim women will accept a temp marriage so they can sleep with a stranger who has done nothing to qualify himself?

If this is the case, then I'm living in the wrong country. Can I move to Syria, change faith and go bang as many women as I want as long as I sign a temp marriage contract and have it annulled in a few hours? Is it that easy? Really? I will become a god...

Sheikh Mohammed al-Arifi said that the marriages between the foreign-backed militants and Syrian women will satisfy the militants’ sexual desires and boost their determination in killing Syrians.
He added that the marriages, dubbed by him as “intercourse marriages,” can be with Syrian females as young as 14 years old.
He also promised “paradise” for those who marry the militants.
Arifi has issued similar decrees in the past in support of the violence in Syria.
He has also been organizing a fundraiser for the militant groups fighting Syrian government forces.

This Saudi preacher is probably a loon... yet you believe he is a commanding authority on muslims everywhere.

You will find that most muslims place a high value on family. Most muslims remain married to the same woman all their lives.

Exactly. The fatwa is moronic and only makes sense when rape is involved. No muslim woman would agree to it. So therefore, it would be a forced marriage in the name of sex. Rape. C'mon man use your head.

Sarcasm is a fantastic method for validating points in our culture. It's not meant to be serious but it makes you think. You didn't do that. You tried to say temp marriages is the same as one night stands in the minds of western women. However, you just back peddled and said it means nothing and Muslim men and women stay together and it (temp marriages) shouldn't be used for flings.
