no need for high capacity magazines

all these guns really provide, in any practical sense, is the ability of the owner to fantasize about using them and to feel like a tough guy

and statistics show they will more lilkely be used by the owner on a family member, or agaisnt the owner than on an intruder

"happiness is a warm gun...bang bang shoot shoot"

sweet dreams

There are millions of those guns in circulation, you are a liar and likely nothing you say can be trusted.

And you wonder why gun owners freak out when people like you try and destroy our rights?

Ok next question when has 11 or 19 people attacked you? and do you think they might?
Also guy on drugs ok, I'm pretty sure 9 rounds will put him down.
Oh whats the point, you lot just chat on how you will evade the law IF it passes and what you will really do because 90% of you are just blowing hot air and in reality you will do nothing.

I think some of you are relishing the chance of a civil war.....we had doom porn now it's civil war porn...

There may have been a time when there could have been a civil war in this country, but in reality the American people with all of their firepower could not revolt and overthrow a "tyrannical government" when the overwhelming powers they have could quickly crush ANY armed revolution. more than a 100 years ago, maybe, but impossible now.

People who need more than 10 rounds are doing so first because they can, and second because there are a number of scenarios (rare/highly unlikely) where a person could be confronted with a violent mob, or group and need that capacity to defend themselves, family, neighbors, property, etc. unlikely but not impossible.

If society were to breakdown completely, and you were caught up in the chaos you may want the ability to defend yourself as well.

To be honest why do you even care? I mean you live across a ocean in another country. To be honest I think all you Brits want us to share in the misery that your freedoms have become. Misery loves company and always will.

Instead of worrying about something that will not effect you why not go out and help someone in your local community or join your local council.

How many years have we been in Afghanistan now? Fighting a mostly untrained, uneducated force? Iraq? Vietnam?

Guns are not Magic Sir, they jam, bullets go bad, bad guys high on drugs can sometimes take 10 rounds and shrug it off.. Please.... please... please stay out of the discussion if you lack even the most basic common sense understanding of self defense and firearms..

Its not appropriate for a Architect to tell a Doctor how to do his job, why are clueless people trying to change the way I can protect my family?

IF you cant understand that, please see below..

that i think is gonna be another unforeseen consequence of this IF it passes imagine all the insurance claims on "boating accidents" or "theft" or simply the amount of misplaced fire arms (like what happened after Canada repealed its long gun ban suddenly guns started popping back into existence)

Funny how that works isn't it?

I have no earthly clue why they think this will work the way they are selling it. The United States presumably learned its lesson the last time they tried a prohibition measure on this scale and it gave rise to the Mafia.

The freedom we have was fought for against a tyrant, and it was gained through spilling of blood by a united people willing to stand their ground, fight and possibly die to gain that freedom... Rivers of blood, piles and piles of bodies.

Before we give up on any of the freedoms when have here in the USA, that should not be forgotten.

Try telling the ancestors of the fallen freedom fighters that they died for the "biggest con on the planet"

Their silly lil bans affects nothing, the black market is teaming with life, and they have no hold on FREEDOM
What they are pushing for is someone to pull another Oklahoma city, so they can put us all under Martial law.

Every time they dream of the possibility they all break out in masturbation and laugh perversely hysterically

Bitching in these forums is gonna get you exactly nowhere! Occupy has the right idea in that they have hit the streets!

If just 1% of gun owners organized and marched in DC this non sense about gun control would end over night! That said, inaction is all we will likley see!

I think if the NRA does not ask their members to stand up for their rights NOW, then they are part of this agenda!

We will look back on this day and say to our children that inaction destroyed America!

An unarmed American public will defenseles, just like the defenseless persons we see targeted in these attacks!

Dont Worry, only the criminals and police have guns in New York, trust me I know this firsthand.

Your Son is more likely to get killed by one of the aforementioned groups than a lawfully Armed Citizen of this Great Country because they are rarer than you could imagine.

If he is attacked, the legal system expects him to die and it is one of my sincerest regrets that people in New York City... where I was born..where I served...have to live this way..

Its the main reason I no longer live there..

It's all in the planning, IMO.

Civil War would be big job creators for military, TSA and gunshop owners.

Not when the dollar crashes and big brother is bankrupt. Money buys loyality, when they cannot provide for their servants their servants will no longer be loyal.

Asside from gun control, I feel the US $ has a high chance of crashing in '13. The rest of the world knows the USD isn't worth the paper its printed on.

A cause, motive, resolve, unity, and numbers, none of which are sufficient to launch and sustain a revolution against a far superior adversary here in a "civil war"

Show me enough numbers of armed Americans willing to fight and die in a "civil war" now, then we can talk.

Until then, that is all it is, just talk.

Some guns were made with magazines that exceed 10 rounds.

For example my son owns a Marlin Camp Carbine and uses a 12 round magazine.

It's simply how the gun was designed. Banning high capacity magazines would do nothing. Any semiautomatic pistol can have it's magazine changed in less than 2 seconds.

Something to think about. What are the characteristics of the weapons carried by say....U.N. troops? Private mercs? Any force that may be brought against the American people and the world at large? That is where you should be getting the information on what to ban and what not to ban! Equality anyone?

Wrong, not the same law at all.
During those years the made changes to guns (like norinco adding a thumbhole/dragonov style stock to "assault" weapons so they could still be sold. They also removed bayonett lugs so they could still be sold. Under that law people could still own semi auto weapons. This one bans thumbholes, it bans any gun with one "military" style characteristic. It is total ignorance to call this the same law.

Oh so so very wrong. You can pick any two states in the country, if you had just the people with hunting licenses from two states decide to strike out, you would have a one million man army. The government can't very well use their technology against civilians either. Imagine fighting an assymetrical war against a one million man army where you couldn't afford ANY reports of collatoral damage.

To the poster saying that this new proposed law is the same as the law from 1994...did that law include a provision to register everyone's guns?

If that is the case, I was not aware. Can someone enlighten?

To throw in my 2 cents...this will not pass as is, but something incremental will. Also, TPTB probably have more interest in increasing tax revenue than anything else. Honest gun owners will find their lives more expensive. Criminals will do what they do.
