The 2nd Amendment STILL Important to National Defense?

A couple thoughts-

I'm sure this stat is now outdated but a 12 year semi recent study done on gun violence (from owners of registered guns, this did not include criminal acquirement since that can't be stopped), that a doctor is more than 6000 times more likely to kill you than a registered gun owner.

This same study (done by a pro gun control organization mind you) and their numbers of gun related deaths was in the .0003% range or so. How DARE anyone try to attack a basic tenant of freedom by using such a weak anomaly of stats.

Good for you, you hang onto your guns for the POSSIBILITY you may need them against the gov (if you do your dead anyway) and while your waiting, find a way to deal with the CERTAINTY that while guns are everywhere people will keep dying in ridiculous numbers. Its not government so much its centralized strong power. Hundreds of years of European history considered went into these rights. Even examples of that time frame of corrupt euro governments went into the thinking. It was their conclusion that the lack free speech, the lack freedom to redress the governemnt, lack of the freedom of press and the lack of the population to resist arms with arms, a lack of proper body of representation ect is what made europe such a breeding ground for tyrants for all those centuries. The right to keep arms is only part of it.

The trouble is in this modern age the only countries doing the Invading is NATO and there's not much point in invading yourself is there. NATO and the UN is in place to collectivly defend Countries if invaded, so the likelyness of a foreign invasion on American soil is pratically nill. You pay a heavy price for your second ammendmant, it is up to you as American people if you wish to continue paying that heavy price just so you can own a gun and convince yourselves that owning a gun makes you any safer than before.

I can absolutely assure you that owning firearms, knowing how to use them, and having good situational awareness ensures a reasonably higher level of 'safety' than being unarmed or being limited non-firearms for the purposes of self defense. In the case of defense against tyranny there is simply no question that it is an effective deterrent. While firearms by themselves may not be effective against heavy weapons such as MBTs, helicopters, fighter planes and UAVs they are most certainly effective against the people that operate them and maintain them. We do not pay any price 'for' the second amendment. It is simply a protection against infringement upon a right that all sentient beings have. You have that right, regardless of where you live and what laws your government imposes upon the people of your country. It is up to you to demand that that right is respected or you will eventually be subjugated just as all people throughout history that have been disarmed have been. We pay a price measured in blood when that right is restricted and ordinary citizens believe that their safety is better left in the hands of a minority of people who believe they have a monopoly on force.

Bath Township, Michigan, on May 18, 1927, Andrew Kehoe killed 38 elementary school children, two teachers, and four other adults and injured at least 58 people. Kehoe first killed his wife, set off a major explosion in a school building, and committed suicide with a third explosion. Most of the victims were children in the second to sixth grades (7–14 years of age) attending the Bath Consolidated School. Their deaths constitute the deadliest mass murder in a school in United States history.

Evil people do evil things, it has nothing to do with guns.

Why disarm good people when it will not stop, but encourage evil people to do more evil?

Ok we know have DHS ordering -billions- of bullets. They now have ther own schools like navy have subermine collage. ITS THE DEPARTMENT OF HOME LAND SECURITY WHAT YOU THINK THEY ARE TEACHING THEM. i WOULDNT SUGGEST TO ANYONE GIVING UP GUNS. opps lets not forget they now have specialized armored vehicle agaist IMD better then the army
