I recently joined ATS with the intentions of making this post. I wanted to share the following experiences, not only to find answers, but also to
reassure other members with similar experiences that they are not alone and these events do happen. Though, once I became elligible to write my own
threads, my motivation to write about this topic had dwindled. I had learned that the skeptics on this site could be cut throat and I didn't want my
post ruined by people who were going to tell me to "try some meds" or "go see a doctor". FYI to those that will say this: Don't waste your time
because you will be ignored and your day will come! A skeptic turned believer (aka my boyfriend of 3 years) is actually the reason I changed my mind
about creating this post, but more on that later. Let's begin......
My first experience with the paranormal happened at my current residence. This is important to note because I have lived here on and off since 1996
and I truly believe something resides here. The first instance was not monumental, it just scared the living crap out of me. I was 9 years old and
had one of those old school mini, multicolored disco lights that I kept in my room. One night, while I was home alone, laying in my mom's room and
watching TV, I saw the lights from the disco ball turn on and flash across the hallway for maybe 10 secs. I was too scared to get out of the bed that
night so I fell asleep in my mom's and chalked it up to mechanical malfunction. Interestingly enough, the next day I discovered that the disco lamp
was not even plugged into the outlet, so how could I have seen the lights in the hallway?
Fast forward to a few years later and I now have a step brother and step sister. My step sister and I begged and begged our parents for a ouija board
one year for Christmas, and I believe I will regret that wish forever. We used it a few times, but an incident occured that would make us never touch
the thing again. All four of us (I also have a biological sister) were sitting on my mom's bed asking the board questions and we got into an
argument about if the eye was moving on it's own or if it was one of us. So, to settle the matter, we decided that my sister and I would ask the
board who my step sister had a crush on at the time and she would whisper the answer to my step brother. We decided on this question because they
both lived in N.C. and went to different schools, so there was no way my sister and I could even guess the name of her secret crush. BEN was the
answer, and I could tell by the look on my step brother's face that Ben was the name that she had just whispered to in his ear. Excited, we asked
the entity for a sign. The phone rang right after the question was asked and when I picked up there was nothing but static. Needless to say, we
immediately put the board up and never played with it again.
Then came the nightly sleep paralysis. It doesn't happen much anymore, but from the ages of 13 - 17, it happened almost every night. The first time
it happened was frightening to say the least, but I eventually got used to the experience. The only time after the first couple of experiences that I
became scared was when I woke up in this paralyzed state and felt myself being dragged down the bed. I remember thinking, "this can't be happening,
this can't be happening", while I slid down the bed, but it surely was happening. When I became unparalyzed, there I was laying sideways at the
bottom of the bed.
At age 16, I was fortunate enough to go on a cruise to Alaska with my grandparents and older cousin. We stayed in a room that had one bed and a fold
out couch, where my cousin and I slept. When the couch folded out, there was a table that stood right at the edge of the bed. One night I was
awakened by my cousin giggling hysterically in her sleep. When I opened my eyes, there was a girl with long dark hair and a white dress, standing on
that table. She was bent over or crouched down so that her face was inches from my own. I shut my eyes and didn't open them again until the next
morning. I tried researching the room and the boat when I got home, but found nothing. Now, I don't think this girl had anything to do with the
boat, but somehting to do with me.
My next two experiences happened when I was 18 and my ex boyfriend was present for both. The first incident began when our neighbor asked us to
babysit her 3 yr. old son. We said sure and one of the things she asked us to do was to turn the radio onto a specific station when we put him to
bed. It is a local station that plays anything non offensive, really designed for a work environment. Anyways, we had put the boy to bed and were
out on the back porch with the baby moniter, when the music playing in the boy's room changed from light hearted hits to gothic, church like music.
Then, the music lowered and a demonic voice started speaking over the radio, and the music would start again. This went on for about 15 min. so,
super freaked out, I went to the door and checked to see what was actually playing on the radio. It was the same creepy music we were hearing over
the baby moniter. I went back to the living room to tell my ex and the boy woke up screaming. I ran to his room, turned on the lights and picked him
up. I know he was scared because of how tight he held onto me, and he then pointed at his closet, looked at me and said "people". I will never
forget that night or that mysterious song.
The next experience we had together was out on the beach in Litchfield, S.C. My ex's younger cousin was also there. It was around 11 PM and we were
hanging out on one of the walkways, when we all saw what looked like the sun, except for red, come up out of the ocean slowly. Then, at a certain
altitude, it zoomed up into the sky.
The last experience I have for you is not mine, but my current boyfriend's. He was a skeptic until last Friday. I was wrapping Christmas presents
in the dining room when I heard him open the pantry door, pause, and say,"Oh my God." When I looked over at him, he was pale white with a stunned
look on his face. I asked him what happened and according to him he saw a girl with long black hair, wearing a dress, standing in the pantry. He
also said she was hunched over, looking up at him, with her hands out.
So those are my experiences and it feels great to get them all off my chest, at one time. I know that these are all kind of random, so I'm wondering
if anyone here has any insight into why these things happen to me and those around me and if they are connected in any way. Also, please feel free
to share any similar experiences. Thanks for listening ATS
