Three shot dead as US gun reform debate intensifies

www.abc.net.au

A man armed with a pistol has fatally shot three people in Pennsylvania, one of them in a church, before he was killed in a shootout with police as he tried to flee.

Three police officers also were injured in the confrontation with the gunman in Frankstown Township, about 160 kilometres east of Pittsburgh, shortly after 9:00am on Friday (local time), police said.

The violence in Pennsylvania unfolded as bells tolled and many Americans observed a moment of silence for the 20 children and six adults killed last week by a gunman at an primary school in Newtown, Connecticut.

No name released as yet but the gun debate looks like it is accelarating...
Has anyone heard of this yet? It was uploaded to abc over an hour ago and quite surprised it isn't on ATS yet?
Things seem to be getting out of hand and this may just make things even worse.

I searched other online news and so far nothing released, maybe they don't want another shooting news story released so soon.

"The violence in Pennsylvania unfolded as bells tolled and many Americans observed a moment of silence for the 20 children and six adults killed last week by a gunman at an primary school in Newtown, Connecticut." Maybe the Sandy Hook shooting has pushed people over the edge..."

This happened soon after people had paid tribute and respect to all those who died.

Unsettling times and I hope things settle down.

I wonder how long the root causes of these incidents are going to be ignored while people instead try to make the issue about gun control. Society has some major issues, and it always has had them. If all the guns were gone it doesn't change the fact that some deranged person could burn down a building with a bunch of people in it though.

Which means the causes of things like this need to be addressed first and foremost.

Nothing will change with this situation, until the government there realise that it is not the guns they need to be worried about, but the people who are managing to get hold of them. It seems to me that if the controls preventing unbalanced individuals from gaining access to weapons were strong enough, then perpetrators of this type of crime would be forced to illegally aquire weapons, or use less automatically dangerous equipment.

The people who are enacting these spree killings are the sort who would probably do so with ANY tool available, so it is them, and not the equipment they choose to kill with that is the problem.

The mental health authorities in the USA need to work harder to take dangerous people out of society before such things occur. A hammer, a knife, a car, a bucket of fertiliser, acid.... all these things in the wrong hands are murderously dangerous. It is preventing psychopathic offenders, and dangerously unstable people from harming thier fellow citizens that is key to ending this issue once and for all, not regulating the ability of people to defend themselves.

well there is definitely a big problem. when I was searching for info, along side this news story were others, like one cop fatally killed, the other one badly injured on the 17th and there were other stories of smaller scale shootings and not much is said about them.

then I read in one of the articles that the Blair County assessed the shooters fb page and on his fb page, he intended to kill a hell of a lot more. Why the hell wasn't that flagged? Farout, it is always 'after the event'...

3 people and a few cops.. no big deal to me. In New Orleans this happens almost every weekend. This is commonplace in many places. I can't see this seriously being a catalyst for the gun reform movement.

Not trying to down-play ANY shooting - unfortunately people in this country are shot or shot at on a daily basis (sic. gangland violence, drive-bys, etc.). But now that some retard got his hands on mommy's guns, killed her and a bunch of innocent kids before offing himself (if that's indeed how it even went down) bringing gun-control politics to a near hysteria. The MSM is now gonna brow-beat us with every little incident where two or more fatalities are involved. TPTB own the MSM and are gonna milk every little incident until the masses will blindly say "no more guns". I believe we need stricter regulations with annual license renewals and mental evaluations. But not outright banning.

YES that is what I thought was strange... usually twitter is flooded by tweets from locals/people nearby/FB etc.
FB goes off pretty quickly... when a house was on fire near where I lived, I knew what was going on via FB BEFORE the fire truck got there!!!

ABC released this story first,, but the others seem quite slow. Maybe they are down grading it because of how tense everything is getting?

I just read the entire thread of Who is Chris Rodia ... a lot of discrepancies with the media that they are discussing... leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

well that is very interesting... and when I came across so many small scale shootings that didn't even rate on the media or public hysteria scale... I was surprised. I did not know there were so many shootings EVERYDAY

He also tried to run the police over with his truck as he slammed it into a police car. I myself would rather be shot than run over by a vehicle.

I don't have to be sarcastic and say why aren't they banning vehicles do I? You can kill people with a lot of things. Sure guns do make it as easy as point and shoot but if guns are regulated these deaths aren't going to stop. It will just get more brutal with stabbings or vehicular manslaughter.
I know the news doesn't want to say it but these killings weren't random. The killer knew those 3 people. I read last night that the two men were his neighbor so I'm guessing he also knew the lady at the church because two women were present and he only killed one and left the other alone.
In my opinion, no gun ban would have stopped this guy from killing them. It was a grudge of some type and one way or the other he seemed determined to end their life and who ever else got in the way.

what if the root cause turned out to be an alien [or government] mind control weapon being turned on the populace ?

it's not likley we could have a rational discussion about it.

I know you directed that at boncho but had to butt in with MK Ultra... ?

It did cross my mind and I am starting to feel that anything is possible now. I would not be surprised. There is an exellent thread about it in the research forum.
