You really just brought up Trayvon Martin? are you trying to get flamed on ATS? That was totally separate issue and he wasn't even a cop.

I'm waaaaaay over your head, LET IT GO! I know all about the case....and i know about any topic you want to discuss. This topic is about the "problem"...that is being pushed of..as the solution. America is like the frog in a jar, being slowly boiled to death...without even realizing it! I'm bored. Ya wanna talk Quantum Physics?

Your colors confuse me and don't solidify your points.

So your point is to get guns out of the hands of normal law abiding citizen and keep them in the hands of the cops that you loath. If thats the case why don't we take guns away from cops since it will solve every issue.

I see cops standing guard in courts, why don't people get beaten?

No, I don't wanna talk about any of those subjects. I wanna talk about your thread. Why are you getting defensive I'm posing questions and your giving me quotes from Benjamin Franklin.

Isn't your side saying the 2nd amendment is void?

To be fair the Conn. AWB in place is a very watered down and toothless version of the Federal AWB that was in place and since expired. The AR-15 that Adam Lanza used would not have been permitted under the federal AWB.

You seen to be making the case that weapons laws state-to-state are all the same?

"Good guys" with guns are definitely NOT the police.

As a matter of fact, we need to disarm the police.

Neighborhood policing is the key.

edit on 21-12-2012 by gladtobehere because: (no reason given)

That's EXACTLY what i'm saying. What is this "good guy" crap? They are PEOPLE and PEOPLE have problems, attitudes, and miserable lives. All it takes is one bad day. And the worse part is......a cop can kill someone, and actually get away with it; AND still get paid. I mean, am i the only one seeing that KILLING is wrong...and should be dealt with as such...no matter who you are? Putting on a uniform...should not guarantee you the right to freedom if you kill someone.

You're absolutely right...on neighborhood policing being the key. It kind of reminds me of an old, word of wisdom: "Love your neighbor like you love yourself".
How can we love our neighbor, when we're being taught to snitch on them...and peep on them for "suspicious behavior"? Talk about PARANOIA!!!! Geesh!

So, the NRA thinks the answer to this "problem" is another government official with a gun? Nope. Larry Pratt with the GOA is spot-on in this case. We need teachers and administrators who already have conceal-carry permits the right to bring their concealed weapon on school grounds.

An arms race amongst nations...Questionable as to whether it makes the world a safer place, but if it does, it relies on the premise that each nation values self-preservation, mutual destruction being the deterent.

An arms race amongst people? Well if these incidents have taught us anything it is that some people just don't give a sh*&.

Not sure that "more guns" is a credible argument.

What's watered down about it? Same federal AWB restrictions apply. That's why I moved out of CT.

Laws do vary from state to state. Again, which is why I moved out of CT.

For the "lets pass an AWB" argument to have any validity the weapons used would have to have come from out of state and been non-compliant with CT's AWB. That isnt the case. His mothers weapons were AWB compliant.

I might be mistaken but I also believe CT's AWB began before the federal AWB.

Yea, people are people. We are stuck on the planet together. But judging people in uniform as universally bad is a complete generalization. What do you want exactly? Cops to go away so we can all somehow live in peace? Our schools will somehow be safe because cops aren't involved? Lets just let crazies have a free pass with an open window before the cops arrive.

What is your solution? A simple gun ban? I'm sure all the gangs would be happy to give up their AR-15s

Cough Cough:

The rifle he used, a .223-caliber Bushmaster M4 carbine, was legal under Connecticut’s “assault weapon” ban, which is similar to the federal law that expired in 2004. Both laws, in addition to listing specifically prohibited models, cover semiautomatic rifles that accept detachable magazines and have at least two out of five features: 1) a folding or telescoping stock, 2) a pistol grip, 3) a bayonet mount, 4) a grenade launcher, and 5) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor. The configuration of the rifle used by Lanza, which his mother legally purchased and possessed in Connecticut, evidently was not covered by that definition.

frontpagemag.com...

1. Oh Damn folding stocks are evil
2. Oh damn so is that pistol grip
3 So is that bayonet mount meaning someone has to get up close and personal to do anything
4 a grenade launcher! really a grenade launcher! where the hell does one get grenades the BATF made them illegal.
5 a flash suppressor! oh geez contray to hollywood and liberal dogma a "silencer" is still clearly audible.

People making laws of which they don't know jack about.

Isn't your side saying the 2nd amendment is void?

My side is....if "the people" can't have them, neither can "they"!

Personally speaking....guns must be man's STUPIDEST invention, to date. If we look at the "grand scheme of things"....plans for a NWO, since the beginning of time (follow me now), dating back thousands of years; then i'd have to say....creating a way for us to destroy ourselves, was part of that plan. More so, when you realize that we're dealing with BLOODLINES; not individual entities. We're talking thousands of years of family blood. Ancestry type stuff. Inheritances we have no clue about.

People in influential positions are put there...for a reason! They were chosen and they KNOW the rules. If they don't follow the RULES....they get axed. They either: suicide themselves or are publicly destroyed. This is notorious in the music/movie industry. Why? Because entertainers are the biggest tools on the planet. People like Michael Jackson or even Rihanna can INFLUENCE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. People like Lil Wayne are useful as long as they "fit" into the over-all plan. It's not that Lil Wayne is "good at what he does"....it's because he is USEFUL to the agenda.

I looooove your choice wording. 1st you say: "crazies"...then you say: "gangs"? hahahha Did those classifications of people.....SUDDENLY obtain firearms? lol I'm preeeeetty sure, "crazies" and "gangs" have had guns, for quite some time now. I can't recall the last time i saw a "blood" or "crip" bust caps in an elementary school.
Your point is MUTE.

BTW....you do understand, the biggest "gang" on the planet, are the police, right? You're not from the "streets" are you?

Question: What COLORS do cops "flash"???
Try to keep up with the "symbolism"! It's no "coincidence" cops and gangs flash the same colors either. And people say they're "awake". SMH!

Sorry people can't tell the difference between milspec weapons, and civilian, they sure as hell can't tell the difference between body armor and "stargate " vests.

It’s worth noting that Columbine High School had an armed guard, “community resource officer” on duty the day that two students shot 12 of their peers and one teacher.

It's also worth noting that roughly 1/3rd of public schools already have armed guards and there is little research showing it makes the school "more safe".

An armed guard does effect how "safe" students feel, and ironically they feel less "secure" when an armed guard is present and we know that feeling of insecurity impacts children scoially and academically.

There are times to fight fire with fire.

There are times to fight fire with water.

The time to prevent a fire from starting is always.

To claim that none of the above are possible or a good idea reduces the debate to idealogical nonsense.

How convenient, you failed to mention that the "armed guard" was outside in his car eating lunch! He wasn't in the school!

Being you didn't provide a link, thus me looking up this bit of info, I will grant you the same courtesy that you did me!

Perhaps because I was unaware of the same? were you aware that the same armed guard responded near immediately after a call from the custodian? Exchanged gunfire with the killers...and yet still did not stop the killings?

Or further...is it your suggestion that we assign officers who do not take lunch breaks? How about bathroom breaks? Maybe multiple officers? at what point do you also consider other ways to address the problem?

Or is it "Yay - NRA" no matter what they say?
