Man, people here like to jump on every thread and call it a fake! CLEARLY this is real, but nothing extraordinary.

We had a tree fall on a transformer after a storm and it looked exactly like this. So, it's obviously some kind of electical problem. There's been bad weather.

Don't beat up the poor guy for posting because he thought it was interesting! Yeesh! The light show from these things are actually super cool to watch, and you can sorta feel the electricity in the air. Makes a cool sound too!

I'm worried about the possibility of a solar flare. But, it has to be pointed right in our direction and it hhas to be big enough. Not a very probable thing to happen.

You know, shows on TV about Doomsday Preppers gives every Prepper a bad name.

I mean, why attempt to make people look foolish just to prepare
in case our society degrades.

I do get a laugh at all of the different reasons that people are thinking that Doomsday is coming.
One guy talks about Cattle Hormones, another Nuclear War, another GMO produce, hyperinflation,
every single person has a different reason.

Just because the artificial stipulations that you have set on "Doomsday", (including that name)
did NOT happen immediately or at all, does not mean that the Mayan Calendar
means nothing.

I think that it is a definite problem that all of this conversation comes in an It's Happening
thread, which sounds to have little to do with anything other than a transformer.

I do admit that the multi-colors were a bit odd to me,
but as someone else said that there was a piece arching,
that "could" explain the odd lights.

Just because the few transformer videos that we have seen
do NOT look like the one from Annapolis, does NOT mean that
transformers can not explode for that length of time.

Also, someone commented about the sound of multiple jets.

Can I pose the possibility that these transformer "malfunctions"
could have been intentional to distract entire cities of people from
looking at other portions of the sky?

In the Brazil video, someone said that it was a Light Gun or something,
or some prank. This sounds like more distraction.

I'm going to SNIP this wire, and turn on these lights......... just a possibility.
I would love to hear from a utility electrician if a transformer could do this for
that length of time.

This has nothing to do with it.

Everything is on schedule. There was a setback, but we've adjusted our goals. We don't want more bloodshed, but we will not change our minds. We knew you wouldn't understand, that's why we have to do this for you.

Don't worry, you won't even notice a thing. Everything will be all right. We do love you even if it's hard to see it sometimes.

UPDATE (10:14 p.m.)--Tens of thousands of homes throughout Anne Arundel County are without electricity Thursday night after unexplained blue and green lights filled the skyline just before 9 p.m.

According to Baltimore Gas and Electric's (BGE) Twitter account, the company lost service to two main feeder lines into the Annapolis service area at approximately 9 p.m.

The outages seem to be concentrated in the greater Annapolis region, but lights flickered in other communities including Severn, Odenton, Crofton and Bowie.

"We have no working incidents right now," said Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Firefighters and paramedics are responding to multiple alarms from Crownsville and Annapolis though, Hamilton said.

"I've never seen anything like this complete loss of power," said Annapiols Mayor Josh Cohen.

There you have it, even the power company can't explain it.

It's aliens.

I live in Indiana and the power went out for a bit this morning due to a severe windstorm. Admittedly, it gave me a slight pause but obviously these were all just coincidences. So I'm sure all the people around the world who were living in fear of 12-21-2012 can now all breathe a collective sigh of relief and move on to the next "end of the world" prophecy.

nothing happened - except that I haven't seen the sun all day here, very cloudy and snowy. According to the Mayan calendar (I've been watching the marathon all day on History channel)...Mayans figured that the sun would align with the galaxy which could make the earth dark. The interesting thing is that the Mayans not only made predictions thousands of years ahead of their time....but they also made predictions about 2000-3000 years AHEAD of their time using the stars and galaxy as their reference guide.

Because most of the records kept by the Mayans were destroyed by the Spaniards, no one really knows what the Mayan calendar really means or represents or what the date Dec 21 really meant. To many it simply meant - the end of a calendar period - about 5,000 years worth.

The Mayans were very violent and disturbed civilization. They worshiped the sun and made human sacrifices to appease their sun gods. They were obsessed with time keeping and predicting future events though scientists aren't sure if they even predicted their own demise.

Heavy wind may have blown down tree on a transformer. But transformers and copper wires flash green NOT BLUE. Blue always indicates a large surge of electrons in a small space. Free electrons are blue and electric discharges like lightning are blue.

That's what a transformer looks like being blown? Cool ha.

I just saw this video of the same event from a different angle:

You are not very well informed. 23rd was always a possibility - as far as I know, it dates back to at least 1994.

Here is a quote from a link that I gave as an answer to "Why 2012?", when someone asked. I edited it a bit for clarity and neutrality.

"Linda Schele and David Freidel, unlike most Mayanists, continue to support the work of Floyd Lounsbury in promoting the 584285 correlation. This is 2 days off from the Thompson correlation. Schele and Freidel still report that the end date is December 23rd, 2012 rather than Dec. 21st."

So, the 23rd (today) was always a possibility, that some researchers kept insisting upon, instead of the 21st. Why the masses chose the 21st is not known to me, but I would guess that it's because the author of the text in the link (and thus many others as well) wrote a flimsy excuse about the current Mayans still using the calendar in a certain way, so that must be correct (as if in thousands of years, the usage couldn't have changed - what do the MODERN Mayans know compared to the Great Ancients?).

Take from it what you will, I never claimed anything about this, except a 'possibility'.

And those who say 'nothing happened' - how can they be so sure? Maybe a lot of things happened between this solar system and the galaxy, but the effects are too subtle or slowly beginning for most people to immediately observe, especially considering their limited, nihilistic and "physical only" sight, and incredibly small circles they live their tiny lives in. I mean, it might be a change that you CAN'T observe merely by watching the idiot box or looking out your window.

But as I said, I am not claiming anything, just pondering, asking, thinking and considering things as possibilities.

Well with that, I FEEL the same, I THINK the same, I INTERPRET reality the same. Reality still exists, no body I know has ascended or lost their moronic tendencies. My Education is still valid and intact, as with all the years of life experience I have under my belt. Nope, I think nothing has happened. If it can not be observed in any way, then no change has happened. Do you understand the logic you are even implying? Insinuating I have come to my conclusions merely looking out my window, or watching television(I don't own one) is a really far stretch mate. Nothing has happened on this day. Sure if you want to try to blanket the Mayan date onto all sorts of OBSERVABLE changes that have been happening slowly for thousands of years we are well aware of. How ever this whole thing revolves around something on that date.

There is a difference between wanting something to be related to the date, and something actually being related to the date.

There is significance in the fact they accurately predicted the cycle of our galaxy, the solstice, and a planetary alignment thousands of years in their future, but other than that. IT wasn't pointing to some event, or why wouldn't they mention the event so we knew EXACTLY what to look for.

Something occurred to me about Doomsday while I was listening to the stories of the Harold Camping crowd selling their houses and giving up their pets in 2011, only to have to try and get everything back to normal afterwards: It's a pretty fundamental human tendency to look to the future and have aspirations ("Someday I'll get my degree"; "I'm going to try and learn Portuguese"; "let's see what I can get accomplished today"; et cetera). It seems to me that the big appeal of Doomsday, whether it's the destruction of Earth or the ascension of humanity to a new dimension, is just how prestigious it is to experience the pivotal moment in universal history. And on top of that, this future takes away all of your problems! Who cares about a house to pay off, or pets to feed, or a job to go to, once you're dead (or merged into a collective consciousness)? It's the future that alleviates all of our current woes, and unlike any other futures, requires no effort on our part except to exist while it's happening.

And after the apocalypse comes and goes, the issues of earthly existence rear their ugly heads and our easy escape from them wasn't so easy after all. Because life is hard, and success isn't inherent. It'll have trials and hardships, and it'll require your trust that it will have been worth the effort. And when you succeed, you'll have different problems, ones you'll need more hard work to solve. It's an ongoing process.

I guess my point is that life is a journey and not a destination. The destination is death, and the thought of shirking your duties by dying is a thought for the suicidal, so I won't even pretend I know how to deal with that. But if the end goal is to live an easier life by being more enlightened, and learning the great philosophical and moral answers? You can make yourself into that person with hard work. Become more enlightened. When the unstoppable force that will enlighten you free-of-charge on 12/21/2012 (or 12/23/2012 or whatever it is now) doesn't show up, the least healthy thing to do is to tell yourself that you are indeed more enlightened. The false impression of progress will only serve to take away your sense of need for ongoing improvement. Take it upon yourself to be that force you waited for, and make the world a better place. If you want your drive to be what did or didn't happen on 2012, then that's fine, as long as you can make your own future and live the life ahead of you.
