NEED HELP with Gun Control Debate!

I am in Junior High School and during my break I'm writing a paper on facts surrounding mass shooters.
My dad is on this site ( I'm using his log in with his permission) and he suggested I ask it's members to help (as he said they are well informed and more accurate then the media and would probably be more then willing to help).

My paper is none partisan and is mainly about mental health issues surrounding the shooters. What I'm trying to accomplish in the paper is to show the statistical likelihood of mass shootings in America's future based off of demographics.

I've found a lot of info, but what I can't find and need help on is the following (please provide links to so I can cite them for my teacher):

All information should be regarding shootings since Columbine High School
Family demographics of shooters

Financial demographics of shooters

Education level of shooters

Political affiliations or ideology of shooters

Political affiliations or ideology of parents, spouses, friends or partners.


Any statistics that show how many American's have the same mental health issues the shooters were diagnosed with.

Again just the facts, no political side taking please.

I would like to add however, that you may want to try to find the correlation between anti-depressant medications and these killers as well. Generally speaking, it's my understanding that from Columbine on up, they were all on medications.

Since these meds are notorious for causing homicidal and suicidal tendancies, you may want to address it in your paper. The informations pretty easy to get too, because meds have been blamed for hundreds of deaths in the US and thousands worldwide. Not including mass shootings.

plus, it's strange the level of brutality in these people that were once good.. Indicating a total psychotic break.

Here's some info for starters... I'll keep posting as I find relevant stuff.

Feb. 2, 1996
Moses Lake, Wash. Two students and one teacher killed, one other wounded when 14-year-old Barry Loukaitis opened fire on his algebra class.
March 13, 1996
Dunblane, Scotland 16 children and one teacher killed at Dunblane Primary School by Thomas Hamilton, who then killed himself. 10 others wounded in attack.
Feb. 19, 1997
Bethel, Alaska Principal and one student killed, two others wounded by Evan Ramsey, 16.
March 1997
Sanaa, Yemen Eight people (six students and two others) at two schools killed by Mohammad Ahman al-Naziri.

This PDF I found covers almost all the demographics your looking for. It is not updated, but you will find information since Columbine in it. I believe there's demographics for 9 different school shootings.

Well, there's so many shooters it's hard to lump them together. What I think and what "Is" are two different things. The only REAL concrete connection I've ever found that they all have in common is Head meds...

It took foodstamp about 10 minuets to do your homework.

Why not ask how many mass shootings happen at a gun shows vs how many happen in gun free zones?

Are you trying to cover just the US or the world?

Do a search on gun crimes per state and use that as a base number for each state. then do a search for election data for the political info for each state. There should be few maps already for this so that should be easy. Mental heath is the harder part. You should also figure the math based on population of an area. The great the population the higher the chance would be.

I remember back during columbine that "Marylin Manson" was blamed for the shootings. There's lots of youtube video's concerning that if you search "marylin manson columbine".

You'll probably find information related to the fact that these kids were deeply depressed and therefore gravitated to Marylin's music. And you'll find people who blamed Marylin for putting the "idea's" in the heads of the kids to kill. An absured judgement considering his lyrics were never overtly violent like that.

Ive got a list of the drugs and what they were diagnosed with. But it seems the more I look the more I miss.

Also are you basing your search on data between what two spans of time? From now to last year? Also don't forget to search the states gun laws.

My dad suggested something similar to that but my teacher asked then I would I account for Norway?

That's a dang good out-line for items of interest to use in a debate.

Will you be debating for or against?
Whatever items your research uncovers may be, will you be emotionally invested?

Can you keep a clear head and debate without an emotional stake in it?
Why has protecting one's property become so prevalent?

Until people are willing to share resources/property, it will remain a black-powder issue.
