What if I was to say that they are part of a galactic community, kind of like the Federation. We are a bunch of dangerous ,backward, barbarric, murdering, greedy, immature monkeymen and while they want us to be part of it, we are in no way ready. They dont want to alter our timeline because of gene pool cleansing and such. If we waste each other than we dont deserve to evolve to there level anyway, does that make sense? Would be a simple explanation to a huge why.

Im not getting into how or why I am writing this, but what if? Do you feel we have a chance?

People are very flawed. Chaotic. Predictable (to a point), in disturbing ways..
Our emotions haven't evolved as much as our intelligence, making us self destructive, dangerous.

If by "intelligence" you mean industrialization and technological development, and if you are implying a link between that and our emotional maturity (or lack thereof), can our civilization really be called "intelligent" in the first place? If we're not mature enough to consider the consequences of our actions and take responsibility for them (look at how we treat each other and our own planet), I would be hesitant to label the human race as "intelligent". If I were a member of an alien race, I would be offended by the arrogant presumption of defining "intelligent extraterrestrial life" through any comparison with human beings.

If I were an intelligent being I wouldn't go no where near the USA or the US Government anyway I'd probably end up in Guantamano. Hmm I'd go say hello to brazil or somewhere .. 2 reasons

1. I dislike the US Government (not the American people)
2. I'd rather work with a less developed country and stick my alien fingers up to the US

It is true that they don't show because we aren't ready. But the real truth is that being in their presence would kill us. Their inner self is felt through you as if it were your inner self. Their liveliness is exponentially more intense, and the physical body, with its material nature, just can't handle that much life. So they don't show themselves because we'll die.

I don't know...They may have found a better way of communicating with us by reaching us individually through abductions. These witnesses spread the word through their stories and more people believe there is intelligent life than ever before. There may have been an agreement between the aliens and the government to do this. I notice that with most abduction stories there is always a warning about humans destroying the planet. It's unfortunate that these people are met with skepticism and downright ridicule.

I have to disagree with a few of the coments above. I believe the human race as a whole is mostly good. When it really maters we truly do care for each other. Of course there are a few bad apples. It's just that it's those greedy, sadistic, evil bad apples are the ones who get into politics. The rest of us just want to live our lives and get along.

I respect but disagree with that black view of humankind.
Our beauty resides in the broad meaning of humanity, of our identity as sentient beings.
Because for every Hitler we have five Gandhis.
It's just that Hitlers gets much more publicity.

But don't renounce to all that humanity has to offer to itself and the "rest".
We are artists, explorers, scientists, builders, lovers. We can also be spiteful, greedy and war-mongers.
It's OUR choice which side to explore.
Don't lose your trust in our species, there's still much in the human animal's future.

I wonder if thats why most cannot recall what really happened unless we are under hypnosis. Because the event is so traumatic that the mind shuts off to protect itself?

And in regard to the thread's title.
No, they probably won't land on the White House.
Much more likely they'll land in front of the Louvre, or the MET...

What do you mean by this? I don't think they are in the WH but I bet they know about it. I also think the government made a deal with them to abduct select humans in exchange for technology.
