So you think science says the moon is SOLELY the source of gravity?

I admit I'm confused.
edit on 12/16/2012 by Chamberf=6 because: (no reason given)

I don't think that. I am repeating what I was taught. I am 53 so science might've modified their previous beliefs (and that's exactly what they are. Beliefs. Not facts)

At some point in history, my ancestors went to school learning the Earth was flat. So science is always changing. They are just theories but passed out as truths.

Listen, I don't know for certain the Moon rotates. I've never seen it. I am taking the word of what I've read. See? So we can never ever be so sure.

Pluto was also a planet if I remember correctly

It's the same thing with the Moon. While it's back is towards us, Our back is towards her.

It's not quite like that. Earth rotates once per day. The Moon rotates once per revolution around Earth, approximately 27ish days.

No.
The Moon's "back" is never toward us.

Exactly !
thank you Phage

I know with absolute certainty that our governments do not tell us everything. If you think about it they might be right in not telling us. Panic could ensue and make bad situations 1000 times worse. Religions ( 5 billion believe in God in one form or another) would go up in smoke. It is enough for me to try to piece the puzzle together. In the end if a huge meteor slams into the Earth it would do me no good to see it coming.

Well, Newton came along way before 53 years ago, so I can't fathom why your teachers taught that.

I'm about to nuke you and I like you. Go figger.
Didn't you read my stunning analogy involving the dancers? It gives you a visual why we don't see the back side of the Moon.
Now if you didn't read it please do. But if you did then why are you still saying what you're saying unless I'm not understanding what it is you're trying to say.

(English isn't your first language eh? Is there a translator in the house then? Just kidding)

i know the moon rotate but NOT ON ITSELF

You're referring to its revolving around Earth which it does. It also ROTATES on its axis which it does ONCE PER REVOLUTION.

If the Moon did not rotate we would see all sides of it.

Are you getting "orbit" and "rotating" confused?

That could explain a lot of this if that's the case.

It all depends what you read sadly.

I don't know. I'm not up there. I know many articles support both theories.

And just because some member says so, doesn't necessarily mean it's gospel. Me included.
But I know when to exit a thread so...I bid you farewell and I'll see you around

Stunning as it may have been it was incorrect. Phage told you so and Ben thanked him for it even though Ben didn't get it.

I addressed it here www.abovetopsecret.com...

Are you ignoring my posts? lol

BTW, that private school owes you a refund if you were actually taught the Moon is the sole source of our Gravity.

That's why I am so amazed when NASA comes off as if it knows practically everything about our cosmos and yet it doesn't know about gravity and UFOs? But give them another galaxy and black holes and they are experts!

I am pretty sure that NASA will tell you they don't know everything about our cosmos, because they don't even know everything about our own solar system.

Not sure where you got your info, but NASA again doesn't consider themselves experts on other galaxies or black holes as they still don't know enough about them.

It's great that you know the Moon's far side (sometimes incorrectly refrred to as the dark side) is never toward Earth. Now I'd like to help you understand that means the Moon does indeed rotate on its axis. Imagine a circle, perhaps a plate on a table in front of you. The plate is a 2D representation of Earth. Now take a smaller round or spherical object and place it next to the plate at 12 o'clock. Move the smaller object all the way around the plate without it spinning (rotating) at all. Notice that this diplays all sides of the smaller object to the plate, right? If the Moon did not rotate on its axis (at the rate of one rotation per revolution) we would see all sides of it.

It all depends what you read sadly.

Sadly that seems to be true for many.

I don't know. I'm not up there. I know many articles support both theories.

But which is demonstrably true? You don't need to be "up there" to verify the Moon's rotation once per revolution.

Just in case anyone missed these

Moon Rotation

Moon libration

We see 59% of the Moons surface due to libration.

Also there is NO dark side only a far side!!!!

yes the angles can vary a bit i agree with that
but there is a big surface that never show toward earth
didnt know that the dark side was 40% thank you for that detail

You ummm, want to elaborate and provide evidence?

No, the moon is a moon. I've heard stories about things that are up there from reputable sources, but it is not a mothership, it is a celestial body.

I think it is both a mothership and a celestial body.
