What happens if nothing happens on Dec 21st, 2012? Possible mass suicides in France?

This is a new thread from one of our long time members...his wife is locked in a secure room at an ongoing mall shooting in Oregon. The shooters are still on the loose, wearing Guy Fawkes V for Vendetta Masks....

I hate to say this...but, I think we'll be seeing a lot more insanity like this, as the end of the year progresses. Lord, I hope not....

Many of us are. Remember, if you have any Family or Friends who are depressed over Dec21st....try to talk with them. Let them know you don't believe the world is ending. Sometimes people just need to hear some caring and logic from those around them. It's the best we can do.

Suicide is always a terrible blow to the remaining family. And it is almost always a lack of belief in their ability to deal with a bad life situation quite often made worse by depression. The shame is that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. And it is a route I almost took many decades ago when I was young and in an extremely bad marriage. I am thankful that I didn't succeed because I finally got the cajones to file for divorce and shortly after met my second wife who was the exact opposite of my first wife. We had a 17 year honeymoon until I lost her to cancer in 1995. I also went on after the divorce to start a very successful business that I ran for 25 years. All in all I had a full and rich life after the failed suicide attempt and i am still, at 73 and retired, enjoying life to the fullest. If the cards had fallen the other way I would have had none of that.

I was watching doomsday preppers. And a part of me thinks " nah nevermind, wont be as many as I think". Then a part of me worries 'ugh these people are so invested; emotionally, physically, and financially, that it is going to be a DEVASTATING blow to the psyche. I just hope that if it was one or the other, that those with immediate families counting on them think twice.

Ya but do most doomsday preppers believe something will happen on the specific day or are they just prepared for any collapse of society on any given day? I've never seen the show so i'm honestly asking a sincere question which i have no clue..

I think most of them on the show just think something will happen, some day. But I think the do represent the same mind set of a 2012 prepper

I reckon they will dust themselves off and find the "next" doom and gloom scenario. I think that because they HAVE invested so much time, energy and money into prepping, that they will want to use it so I'm sure there will be many know it alls out there that will try and convince the "unbelievers" of the next coming catastrophe.

That's my take on the preppers as well. Most of them appear to be prepping for a general meltdown of society that could happen at any time.

We may be closer to financial/social meltdown than most want to think about.

Consider the possible collapse of the US Dollar and what that would trigger. Personally, I think these preppers are smart and I support them fully, even though I'm not a prepper myself.

Some of the preppers are Fundamentalist Christians who are awaiting the Apocalypse. I think there are more of these than Mayan 2012 preppers.

Ya i'm not saying it's a bad idea to have stock on hand in an emergency event.. even FEMA suggest it. I have stock on hand in case of an emergency be it mother nature or some unforeseen thing but i know i'm not near as prepared as some people are but I look at it like this.. if a global catastrophe were to happen the likelihood of myself and my small children surviving are next to nil so why worry about it lol I think i'd prefer not to survive such an event but that's just me.

Edit: don't the fundie's believe in rapture? so if they are being raptured before the tribulation why stockpile? I dunno

i tell ya what... im keeping a full tank of gas and keeping the house stocked up on dog food and canned food. worst that happens is i dont have to go shopping for a while

Maybe they failed at life, and since they they failed they want death and destruction for everyone else also..

So maybe if we lose a few selfish, stupid and very gullible people that wont be such a bad thing. Maybe the world becomes smarter afterwards.

You realize you are potentially talking about someones father or mother, brother or sister, son or daughter, husband or wife? Pretty callous if you ask me.

I've never said anything like what I am about to say...

"Three days of darkness" - Starting on the 21st Dec 2012. Dark, not in the physical sense but emotionally. So many suicides when nothing happens in the few days before Christmas would certainly be some of the darkest in many years.

What you could call a self-fulfilling prophecy. Ironic.

No ones fault but their own if they want the world to end. It's pretty "callous" of those people.
Judging by many post on this forum many people are pretty "callous".

I hope for a better world afterwards. A less "callous" and gullible one.

MASS KILLINGS AT SCHOOL.............this is what is happening in CT........Now 20 dead children. My youngest daughter graduated from this school two years ago.

Im beginning to hope for the end of the world at this point. I don't think my psyche can take another shooting. So much innocence was lost today. From the victims shot, or the victims who witnessed it.
