My internet browser is Firefox and untiltoday I have found it to be exactly what I have needed.

However, this morning I tried to log in to my Tripod/Lycos account to edit a page on Pixy Folk and it wouldn't accept my username or password. Of course I tried it a few times, making sure that I had entered them correctly, but I still couldn't get logged on.

So I tried ATS ... and got the same problem.

My first thought was to reboot and try again - no luck. I cleared the cookies etc - still no access.

By that time I was getting somewhat annoyed (worsened of course by KayEm's demon from Hell insisting that I log off in the middle of a test).

Eventually I decided to try bog-standard IE ... and got on first time.

Obviously I have a problem with Firefox - the question is this 'is it a possible browser hijack and if so what in fex name should I do about it ?. I have considered removing it and reinstalling but that's a pain in the arse and I'd rather not do that unless absoultely necessary.

Does any Firefox user have any ideas ?

I've had similar problems with Netscape in the past few days, but bugger all if I know what to do about it.

I suppose that, eventually, each of us will fall prey to the dark powers of Bill Gates... but good luck, at any rate

I had this problem ages ago with ATS while using the old Mozilla FireBird.

I cannot remember how I sorted it... The only things I can think of are: (most of them you have probably done)

* Delete all cookies and temporary internet files
* Check proxy settings
* Re-Install FireFox

I don't think it would be a browser hijack attempt... But if you think it may be (no harm in testing) download and run HijackThis.

If you manage to sort it out, please post how you did it. Will be useful to know for future reference

Ain't THAT the truth... while parts of me have broken off to using open-source software (Firefox, Gaim, etc...) I still use Windows XP Pro more than I use my Debian Linux laptop. I find XP much easier to use.

Linux is good too, though... (give it a try)

I had same kind of problem with Opera,
Telling it to refuse all third party cookies solved problem... but don't ask why!
