Thanks for the link, Grady. You don't happen to have one on the previous nominees?

How to nominate someone for Nobel Peace Prize:

nobelprize.org...

Who is competent to make nomination:
nobelprize.org...

I quote:

1. Members of national assemblies and governments of states;
.......
3. University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology; directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes;

A lot of people can make nominations, I guess. So, to be nominated doesn't realy mean much.
Theoreticaly, a rogue state can nominate another rogue state's dictator for Nobel Peace Prize.

Actually Bush and Blair were both nominated to get this years Peace Price.
Blair, Bush nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
"US President George W Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the architects of the Iraq war, are among the nominees for the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize."

They didnt get it.

Kenya's environmentalist Wangari Maathai did.

"For her contribution to sustainable development, democracy and peace"
Kenya's Wangari Maathai wins 2004 Nobel Peace Prize

In order to win nobel peace prize you must contribute to the world.

What's Bush contributed other than bloodshed? And he's a morron to boot.
Nope. i dont think so.

I'll say something I can't believe I'm saying.

If ever George W. Bush were to pull off a cessation of hostilities between Israel and Palestine, just by force of negotiation, I would say yes, nominate him. That's a good reason to do so.

However, given the Nobel Peace Prize was created to reward people who used other means than violence to achieve reconciliation and/or peace, or people who helped foster a better understanding between nations and peoples, I don't think that a President who waged war the way Bush did should get the prize. It would be an insult to all those - activists like Jose Ramos-Horta of East Timor, Mother Theresa, Mahatma Gandhi or Martin Luther King, who fight the uphill battle year after year to promote peace.
