Russia Issues Mayan Apocalypse Warning As Troops Ordered To Norway Border.

A chilling report written by newly appointed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu circulating in the Kremlin today states that the permanent deployment of the 200th Motorized Infantry Brigade by the Northern Fleet to the border of Norway last week is meant to insure that Russia is able to “seize and control” the Svalbard Global Seed Vault located on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen near the town of Longyearbyen in the remote Arctic Svalbard archipelago in the event our world faces a “global apocalypse.”

It sounds as though Russia is taking the 12-21-12 thing seriously, maybe they know something we don't know.

According to one Western news source reporting on this unprecedented deployment of Russian military forces: “The 200th Motorized Infantry Brigade includes not only infantry units, but also coastal missile defense and artillery forces, air-mobile infantry, and light armor units. The Northern Fleet’s naval infantry forces will also be placed under the 200th’s tactical command giving it an amphibious assault capability. This last aspect is indicative that the general mission of the 200th is expeditionary warfare; projecting military power over border frontiers and across bodies of water behind border frontiers or on nearby islands.”

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is an attempt to provide insurance against the loss of seeds in what are called genebanks, as well as provide a refuge for seeds in the case of large-scale regional or global crises. The seed vault is managed under terms spelled out in a tripartite agreement between the Norwegian government, the Global Crop Diversity Trust (GCDT) and the Nordic Genetic Resource Center (NordGen).

Though these latest moves by Russia to protect itself in the event of something happening seem to be prudent, the days, weeks and months to follow 21 December will, most certainly, show this date to be what it was always meant to be…yet another opportunity for humanity to pull itself back from the brink.

Yup, it appears that the whole damn world has gone crazy! It's only December 3rd I worry about what kind of madness we will witness as the date draws closer. Maybe we should send some troops up there to defend our seeds. WW3 starts over the seed storage facility designed to save humanity. How ironic would that be?!?

The Norway/Russia border is only about 100 mi long. I'm pretty sure Norway can handle a brigade of troops on a 100 mi front.

If there is any truth to the article, then more than likely the only thing they are taking seriously is that there are enough crazies out there that do actually believe this 2012 nonsense as to pose a risk to safety and what they 'know' is that crazies do what crazies do and they are merely taking precautions to limit the effect of mass hysteria on the part of the gullible crazies.

That's of course IF the article is true, which I sincerely doubt judging by the website hosting the source link...

Umm.. for all the talk and silly nonsense about Russia being weak....they still stretch from the Black Sea to the Arctic and the Atlantic to the Pacific. I think Norway would be run clean over with little but tire tread marks to show the Russians had been there. Why folks equate one of the world Super Powers to a 3rd world nation is a baffling thing... Oh well.. Perspectives I guess. They have kept to themselves for 20+ years.

Anyway... Why would Russia need troops on the border is my question? They'd do the decent thing any self respecting Super Power does these days....they'd air drop their spetsnaz in to take the seeds if that was their idea.

That kinda fails to note a problem with the whole concept though? Are we suggesting the Russians are lazy and weak or just weak minded and stupid? I mean, seeds aren't a hard thing to come by ...right now. Folks really think Russia and the United States don't both have their own Seed and other types of vaults for any possibility that could ever possibly happen? Hmmm.. Those trillions of Dollars and Rubles don't really get spent on $1,000 hammers.
