Do you understand why the poles are cold?
The Earth's axis will shift thus moving a once-ice free location to the "top" of the axis.
Go ahead and tell me that the catastrophe that would ensue would be beyond devastating.
Last time I checked the atmosphere is on the ground.
If a big solar wind pushed the atmosphere down to the ground, the freezing air from above could theoretically flash freeze things instantly.
Not an attempt to discredit you tale but it seems improbable...
