Very Erratic Flight Pattern UFO

My gf had to get up for school at 6 this morning, on the walk to her car I spotted a solid light in the sky that was flying side to side, very erratic, very quickly. In fact, in the time it took me to smoke one cigarette, the UFO managed to clear the sky from the west to the east. There was no blinking lights signifying an aircraft, and no sounds came from it either. What was it?

It's a shame there were no Photos. Was it dark?.
