This is because the mind does not consciously think of every decision and action as right or wrong.

You are likely not to be born with the full set of values that a consciousness is capable of. That is why it is advisable that you cultivate your consciousness.

If you would follow the solutions with the least resistance always you would still soil yourself. You would have never learned to use a potty.

But you are right, without education it is a bit hard to distinguish between what brings you true success and what makes you fail. Specially in the long run.

Is it because it is so difficult that I bring gifts to everyone whether they done good or bad? Figure that one out.
