general Macarthhur love him or hate him?

I cant make my mind up about Macarthur on the one hand you have his genuis the Island hopping in WW2 , the landings at Inchon in Korea , the Successful occupation of Japan and the Rebuliding of that countrie ( with Marshall aid of course.) Yet for very triumphant there was a disaster the fall of Philippines in 1942 , the Chinese offensive that drove back UN forces in Korea.
He also had massive ago which in part explains why he coudnt admit why that Australian soldiers were superior jungle fighters then there american counterparts.
