It makes sense to people who are not war mongers.

1. NK hasn't bothered anyone and minds its own business building its own tech like every other nation does. They are not stupid enough to want to engage in war with a neighbor that can reach them just because. No one is attacking anyone "just because".

2. SK has more than enough fire power to hold NK back, and they know that NK is not stupid enough to attack them for no reason "just because". It hasn't happened and will not happen, stop war mongering.

3. If US sticks its nose in the area, NK will blow up bases in SK nuke style, that is what the nukes are for. No bases no invasion, no military parking, no airplane landing, no soldiers replenishing, well you get the picture.

Leave NK alone, now excuse me while I go through red cross, amnesty international, and other on the ground people to tell me how many have died in these wars. Lol wikipedia, freaking wikipedia made me look like a moron vs a holocaust denier.

You mean aside from sinking their naval vessel and shelling SK lands killing South Koreans? Yes aside from random attacks for no reason NK has not attacked. Unless you count their numerous attacks. Who is delusional again?

"The North blamed the South for starting the exchange; the South acknowledged firing test shots in the area but denied that any had fallen in the North’s territory. It was in the same area that a South Korean naval vessel, the Cheonan, was sunk in March, killing 46 sailors. Seoul blamed a North Korean torpedo attack; the North has denied any role."

The south shelled SK waters. The North torpedoed a SK vessel killing sailors. The North of course denied it, an independent team concluded it was a NK torpedo. Sorry, you lose. How about the shelling of the South Koreans by the North?

Common sense would have shown you that this isn't my thread.

I will leave you with this, even the school bully has an agenda to take lunch money.

Thanks for the safety tip

Well at least we know the US sacrifices its soldiers to save lives and the countries being saved just happened to have oil in them.

In this modern world if you use or benefit from the use of an internal combustion engine anywhere or at any time in your routine daily activities then you're part of the problem and shouldn't point fingers

Iran and NK just spend billions on tech and weaponry to wipe people off maps and cause world wars

Every Country has a right to defend themselves, That's a given, what's humorous sometimes though are those here who will attempt poorly to bend over backwards in nearly a superhuman contortionist effort to justify and/or deny some countries blatant aggression.

good day sir

I'm off to bed myself.

North Korea is a zombie state. It only functions as a closed society with a largely brainwashed population and a dead economy.

The elite control the military, who they ensure are fed relatively well in order to keep the populace in line. They also stoke fear of the South and the rest of the world and use vanity projects like nuclear launches to try and convince the starving masses that they are a great power.

Its absurd and everybody, (i'm pretty sure even little Kim and the smarter of the NK military), realises how absurd it is.

The trouble is it cant be reformed without collapsing. If it collapses there will be massive bloodletting and upheaval as the masses tear their glorious leaders down and the massive military machine either eats itself or starts a war.

Something neither the North Koreans, Chinese or the South Koreans want to occur.

As a result it'll just rumble on. They'll threaten for handouts occasionally, attempt 'glorious technological achievements' occasionally and sometimes as a result of internal power plays attack their neighbour in small ways.

All this is tolerated because nobody sees a way out.

Thats an interesting thing isn't it, old bean. As you demand an internet link to a reliable North Korean source when by its very nature the state in question doesn't permit such a thing to exist. They cannot let the people perceive the reality of the world outside lest their utopia look less utopian all of a sudden.

Kudos for the sarcasm though. Most spiffing indeed.

That is why I questioned your tale on North Korea, its just an opinion and it means nothing. Hate to be so mean, but dems the brakes, can't tell you about life inside your house if you won't let me in or you won't come out. Yet they do fair well at the olympics though.

This here is funny, I don't even know what to say. Lets check the record on who is likely to invade someone else without congress permission, no without its own constitutions permission. No more blood for you lust my friend, Arab blood should quench it for now.

You go head and keep hatin' on America from your armchair, but we'll still be there for your sorry arse the next time you're in trouble. Seems they always hate until they need us!

I think you misunderstand me, the other evidence from close observation of the society from outside tells the tale. Enough people survive escaping that they can tell of the sorry state of things. You would regard it as hearsay but i tend to find it credible.

A north korean soldier shot his superiors and fled across the DMZ last month. You can read between the lines of the information available and get a pretty good idea.

That you discount such information until you can link to a North Korean website telling truth in a state where its not allowed is the difference between us.

Sorry have to say its funny that a war can be classed as illegal or legal.............

think about it war is war people die and get wounded its just a case of its a bigger gang vs another gang put that on a micro level than to people going at it in a street they get arrested so what is the difference between that and war war is conflict so is a punch up......

yet its classed as more legally acceptable for a war to go a head than a punch up, war is like 1000+ punch ups going ahead at once in this context.......

funny isnt it

What's there to know? America is the greatest country on Earth and you're a jealous hater, until you need us of course. I'd like to know where you're from. It might explain all the hatred for America. I'll bet you're from a country more like the bully on the block but we're just bigger than you, and we wouldn't let you pick on anyone anymore.

Anyways, I've already posted on another thread about this same argument so here it is again.

Yikes! American bashers. China sympathizers. And you're Americans. Why don't any of you ever recognize the good that that awesome military has done for this world. We've freed people from dictators. Dictators who've killed by the tens of thousands. We've used that awesome military to assist in disasters. Just our presence in parts of the world has deter'd wars. We can go on and on about all the good our military has done, and I can show sources, but what for? You know its true but you insist that America is the evil empire. There would be a lot more chaos in the world if our military wasn't what it is. Wrabbit stated above "why is it our responsibility?" Because we can. We built it up during the Cold War and now we have it, so why not make the world a better place? Does anyone really think that China wouldn't be throwing its weight around in SE Asia if we didn't have such a large presence in South Korea or Japan?

North and South Korea are technically still in a state of war, and have been since the 1950s.

As for conditions in the North, there are plenty of non-American sources, including North Korean people who have escaped to tell us what the conditions are like there. There isn't a North Korean website that will ever tell the truth about what conditions are like, but the testimony of people that have escaped tells us enough. Most people aren't going to flee a country without a good reason to, and thousands of people a year flee the North.

Something that occurred to me the last time they tested was that these are a very naive people, the US has assets operating in every government around the world at some level, that's the whole point of an intelligence service. If the US could have people on the inside in Russia (which I think we all have to agree they do, just as Russia has people inside in the US too) it would be far easier to do this with NK, considering their isolation and their confused outlook on the world.

There will be US assets in the NK regime, you can guarantee that. There will also be assets in the source of materials and technology. The US (and others) would have people in numerous places to ensure that they are in control.

As long as it is not in the interests of the US to have a launch or test succeed, NK is not going anywhere or threatening anyone. I firmly believe that people need to calculate the interests of the US and other large players like China and Russia when considering how capable NK is.

Forget the mentality of NK for a while, focus on who is within the regime and who has the ability to exert more control over the operations of their weapons development and testing - right now I would say the US has the upper hand in that, and that they will be putting blocks in place every step of the way to make sure all their tests fail.

America is certainly not the greatest country on Earth, the fact that you believe this shows the level of propaganda the American people swallow from their own government and media. Here, let me educate you just a little...

America is beaten by Finland, Sweden, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom and Austria in the global ranking for Democracy.

Yes, America is beaten by all those nations when it comes to being democratic.

Source

The USA is 47th in press freedom rankings. Yeah, you heard me. The USA is beaten by nations such as Taiwan, Ghana, Slovenia, Niger, Costa Rica and Estonia.

Source

The USA is tenth in the Economic Freedom Index, beaten by Ireland, Mauritius, Chile, Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and the leader Hong Kong!

Source

I could go on and on and find all the other global ranking systems that clearly show the USA is lagging behind in educational standards, health, happiness, child care, caring for the elderly, self reliance, social systems, employment equality, gay rights, women's equality, corruption... but I'll save you your blushes and maybe write another thread sometime to show other Americans just how "amazing" the USA really isn't when it comes to comparisons to other nations.

So, the claims that the USA is the "best country on Earth" is, quite frankly, nationalist BS of the most deluded kind, brought about by a society of self-congratulatory propaganda and ignorance of the outside world.

While most Americans might start chanting "USA! USA! USA!" at the drop of a hat, those same people have no idea that the rest of the world is looking at them and thinking "aw, poor people, they think they're all that and they really have no clue!"
