My thoughts do not calculate civilian use of miltiary machines into the equation. Especially when a country like Russia employs military vehicles in the role of commerical transports.

Russia is a militant society where every plane or ship that has been converted from military use can easily be converted back to military use.

I am certain that you if look deep enough into the designs of the Russian icebreakers they do have a hidden military use.

Erm, you say you served in the USMC? Do they train your thinking to become utterly devoid of reality. I have to point out, that you seem to lack a grasp of the capabilities of the Chinese and what their strategic goals are. They have larger disputes with Russian than America. In fact China claims Siberia as its territory. If any conflict would happen it would be between Russia and China. Of course throw India into the mix......
Also you seem to have a complete lack of understanding of how the Chinese and American economies are co-dependent on each other.

But on topic, it would be highly improbable for even a technologically close enemy to raid our country because guns, guns, and more guns. Unless somehow they made a deal with Mexico/Cartel to have them flank attack us from there as what happened in the original movie.

Come on,Red Dawn is a fun little fantasy,in the realm of zombie apocolypse and such,but people are actually buying into this? A globe should be all that is necessary to see why this isn't going to happen,at least not until things change a great deal. The sheer numbers of troops and equipment needed to make an invasion with even the slimmest chance of success is staggering. There would simply be no way to hide what was happening,long before they got anywhere close to landing.

Somebody blathered something about the Chinese disabling the U.S air force with unspecified technology or something. The chinese have one aircraft carrier,which is a freakin joke compared to the U.S aircraft carriers. Whatever tech the Chinese are developing,the U.S is likely decades ahead of them.

I'm not sure what it is that appeals to some people about scenario's like this.Escapism maybe, or just fantasy about how they could have their life change from mundane and boring to exciting and meaningful. Either way,somebody else already said it best-it's fantasy and cosplay.

I just saw the remake last night and I completely agree with you!
One other point that almost drove me nuts through the movie is that an EMP was used to shut down the power grid, right?
Handy that everyone still has their cars and cellphones working.... albeit no reception.
It is my understanding that if an EMP goes off then all electronics cease to work. The only vehicle exceptions may be old vehicles with no electronics, and even those would be subject to damage done to the cylinoid.
I know artistic license and everything, but it bugged me.

I haven't seen the movie yet but just from what you told me it seems that the Chinese created an EMP device that only targeted the local power grids and not vehicles theirself.

The reason why vehicles would not be EMP is that the Chinese would want to put them to use right away after taking America over so that half of the Chinese population and the Mercenaries brought over by the Chinese to fight on their behalf would have vehicles to drive right away instead of spending Chinese resources on providing the same type of transportation.

The only reason that I can think of for the Chinese not using an EMP on the cars or phones is too make the power grid outage seem like it was coming from a problem within the grid itself and not part of an actual attack.

If China used an EMP and knocked out everything at once in America back up systems within the governments military infrastructure would be automatically activated and the military put on full alert thus taking away from the surprise of the attack where the Chinese airborn forces would be able to then be shot down or neutralized with our own EMP weapons.

But by only targetting the power grid most Americans would think nothing was happening except for aging power grids breaking because of their age and use thus making them feel at ease and continue to go about their daily life if nothing happened.

This type of attack is meant to neutralize the interior security or the Militias of America first. Trust me when something like a powergrid goes down the Militias of America automatically look skyward for any signs of non-US planes. If the whole system went down at once its failure would alert the Militias that something was definately was happening thus causing them to go into reinforcement mode where they would then report to their assigned defense areas.

But with only the powergrid going down such groups beyond the control of the military or government would only slightly be alerted to a possible attack where because of the use of their vehicles and cell phones still possible these groups could communicate with each other to find out what was really going on. Since not all of the systems of America were affected the likely hood of the Militias providing a rapid response would be reduced in half making the Chinese airborne invasion more of a success because of the limited resistence that they would come across.

If the Chinese are not planning an invasion then why have there been reports of lead in the paint of toys as well as poison being found in various pet products?

Everyone knows that lead is a poison and that small children put toys in their mouths. The lead paint flakes off of the toy and is swallowed by the child where years later the child develops cancer and either dies from the exposure or become a burden on the tax payer as tax money is used to treat and care for the person. Even if the person has health insurance the health insurance company will find some way to not pay for the cancer treatments thus killing off an American that would otherwise be able to put a rifle in their hands to kill a Commie Red with.

The Wheat Gluten is roughly the same issue except that it effects pets. Pets are very protective of their owners and will often times put theirselves between harm that would come to their owners without regard to their own safety.

Killing off a certain number of our pets that would protect us against their attacks the Chinese airborne trooper could make a blitz lightning strike into our communities without having to stop to care for their wounded which would slow their overall initial assault that would allow militias and the U.S. military to launch a concentrated counter-attack.

To the geo-political reason(s) for a Communist Chinese attack upon the Americans just days before the crucially important G-20 Summit in South Korea, which both President’s Hu and Obama will be attending, this report says was due to the United States, in essence, declaring total economic war upon the rest of the world by its printing of nearly $1 Trillion US Dollars in order to monetize its staggering debt and that China warned:

“If the United States can increase the volume of dollars and it can transmit inflation to other countries to lessen the pressure of debt, then it will bring about a catastrophic influence on the world.”

Typical of the United States propaganda media organs in telling their citizens about the true events relating to this crisis, it as if they have put themselves in total Cold War mode reminiscent of the 1940’s to the late 1980’s when they, likewise, failed to inform them of the many incidents or US Soldier deaths related to that conflict.

Most dangerous about the American people not being informed of the true and tragic state of our world today is their not being able to prepare for the much larger conflicts to come, especially in light of China’s Communists vowing that they won’t go down without a fight. What a way to bomb your enemy without being held accountable.

Create a failed guidance system through the irresponsibility of those building the missile, on purpose. Then put a cheaply made satellite on top of it launch it and let the guidance system fail.

The payload may not be as damaging as a bomb payload but the mass of missile as a whole along with the payload will cause destruction and death where it impacts.

Such computer systems can be designed where computer techologies designed to monitor lets say fuel ignition systems or failsafes would fail at a predescribed time causing such systems to fail resulting in a engine failure that results in engine failure where the plane then crashes into a highly populated area killing hundreds.

Such a failure in the computer systems of a plane from China or North Korea could even be caused by Chinese hackers who hack into guidance systems controlled through the airplanes LAN system through systems such as the planes GPS.

There have been tests done on industrial plants here in America that are connected to the Internet. In these tests paid hackers hacked into the plants Intranet removed various safety fail safes or set machines to perfrom above their normal and safe operating parameters. The machine did cross the red line of its performance and broke down some even causing the machine to explode damaging the area around it.

If the same scenario took place with an airplane there would be no way to fix the plane thus turning it into a very large Scud Missile.

The reason that there was lad in toys was because the US company did not explicitly say not to use lead. In China as it was in the US in the past, lead is/was acceptable to use. Not to mention the US toy compnay should have vetted samples before going into mass production. This is just a simple case of US corporate greed using the Chinese as a strawman.
