McCain Backs Away From Benghazi Conspiracies

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) today issued a statement essentially conceding that he was wrong in accusing the White House of changing U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice’s talking points on Benghazi for political purposes.

Former CIA Director David Petraeus told lawmakers last week that the CIA’s assessment that al Qaeda was responsible for the Sept. 11 attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi was taken out of Rice’s talking points after an interagency review. McCain and his allies then claimed the White House took out the talking points because it supposedly undercut the Obama administration’s narrative that it had severely weakened al Qaeda.

A few individuals suspected in the attack have been caught one has to wonder if more would have been caught if nutjob Issa and the echo chamber at FOX hadn't spouted off in an attempt to get Romney in the White House.

“I participated in hours of hearings in the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence last week regarding the events in Benghazi, where senior intelligence officials were asked this very question, and all of them – including the Director of National Intelligence himself – told us that they did not know who made the changes. Now we have to read the answers to our questions in the media. There are many other questions that remain unanswered. But this latest episode is another reason why many of us are so frustrated with, and suspicious of, the actions of this Administration when it comes to the Benghazi attack.”

Sounds like he missed a key few hours, the rest of America, excluding FOX Nation of course, knew this like a week ago.

For weeks, McCain has lambasted the administration for engaging in “either a cover-up or the worst kind of incompetence” on the Benghazi attack. McCain also said last week that “[e]verybody knew that it was an al Qaeda attack and she continued to tell the world through all of the talk shows [on Sept. 16] that it was a ‘spontaneous demonstration’ sparked by a video.”

Actually what was said, essentially, was that terrorists took advantage of a protest over the video... as best they could tell.

They're all full of spit and its no wonder McCain is falling in line because we all knew he would and that's because he's clearly apart of the corruption & deceit that is Washington DC. Anyone that has read the numerous articles about these attacks and is capable of critical thinking knows they are liars who NEVER take responsibility for anything.

Well of course if you suffer from the delusion that anything printed on the Blaze is factual or that anything coming from sources that talk to Beck, O'Reilly et al don't have an agenda, it would seem so. Their agenda here is clear, swiftboat Susan Rice. The excitement they felt at winning the election for Romney as well as any hope of impeaching Obama has turned into a limp noodle so all they have left is to continue going after Rice.

So it seems that, as I have always believed this is a total nonissue, the republicans have finally realized that they need to stop being vengful because they lost the election.

How quickly everybody has forgotten that the Bush administration lied about WMD's and started an unnecessary war over a complete lie.Funny, that at the time, there was no uproar like this about that lie. Wonder why? Oh wait Cheny, rummy, and the rest of Bush's criminal buddies were all republicans and stood to make alot of money off that war.

If anything, this may be suggesting Rice may have helped with the "editing". With all her qualifications and whatnot, and the fact she was the "delivery vehicle" makes her the perfect choice to come up with the best plan.

Most of McCain's "accusations" have been directed at the White House......Yes?

If you think I'm a parroting Fox News puppet then you'd be dead wrong. I get that Fox News has made it their priority to challenge the Benghazi attacks because they don't like Democrats and Obama but I assure you I never watch Fox News or do I read their website. Any Fox News article I happen to read is because of this site, ironically enough.

The truth is the White House and other government agencies where using misinformation to protect our spies, and not show our hand to the enemy. It was an attempt to get the culprits to announce "I did it" it was not a spontaneous event to a Video so that they might get caught by backtracking their communications.

The GOP effectively sabotaged an intel operation designed to help find the culprits of the action by politicsizing some inconsitenacies comming from the White House that were designed to aid the CIA etc... in finding the enemy. That is why Romney stoped discussing it after getting a classified brief and that is why MCcain and others are say I'm sorry.

We can only hope none got away that might have been found out throught the deliberate misinformation given my the White House. Any future American blood spilled due to interpuption of this counter intel op lies squarely on the hands of the GOP.

You claim this a counter intel op and you are fine with it? Lie to the public and possibly cause ADDITIONAL people to die for believing those lies? Put the maker of that video in jail for those lies from the OP? Then blame the GOP for catching and exposing those LIES? Geeesh! And people wonder why I say liberal's and democrats have no honor! Something that is sorely lacking in this world today. It was wrong when Bush lied just as it is wrong when Rice lied and you are upset because they were caught.

It truly amazes me how if you think differently then you are demonized.
We hear so much about Fox, Beck, and Bush.
People blame and flame Fox and Beck for showing anything negative about this administration.
When this is not enough they blame Bush.
Why is it that so many believe this administration can do no wrong? It seems that they are ok with any conspiracy except ones that focus on this administration. I just do not understand it.
Support them if you want but at least try and understand these people are human just as you and I are. They lie, cheat and steal. Right and left, it matters not. They are only human.
If they are doing wrong they should be held accountable.

but that is from the author of the article, not McCain.

the story is tainted by the author I think.

btw, does anybody have any sources that actually quote McCain (or anybody else) saying that Susan Rice said all those things on TV because she is a woman or a Negro ??
