Why do some men do this?

It's not relegated to a single sex.
Women do it too. Even to me. Don't know exactly why. I've always considered myself an ordinary average guy.
But don't worry, it will eventually stop happening. At least it did for me.

If it happens when your man is around. Rather than him getting P.O'd...It's the perfect opportunity for him to put his arm around you. It's not like they are proposing to you.

My husband thinks it is flattering if another man thinks I am pretty...he takes it as a compliment..it doesn't bother me..there is a line that can be crossed, but I don't encourage it. Personally, I think it has to do with hormones. Certainly, not worth getting in a fight over it. As to being in groups, there is some showing off involved, but sometimes it's just an instant reaction to beauty...may not even realize it until after they did it.

There are actually many of my kind that understand and regularly practice the art of humor and sarcasm.

True story.

Most women tend to enjoy it and find it flattering.

I think you know exactly why this has happened to you on numerous occasions.

If you truly do not like it, then maybe you should consider not wearing such tight clothing while out & about in public. I'm assuming tight jeans (or short shorts when it's warm), with a tight perky shirt etc.....

Aside from that↑, I think it is a total waste of time to put much thought into what makes people do the things that they do.(In any situation whatsoever).

Personally, I cannot explain what made me do some of the stupid crap that I've done in the past, so I sure as Hell don't even try to figure out what makes other people do the things that they do.

It's usually a group of immature men that use each other for support to say things they normally wouldn't say if they were alone. I would say it's more prevalent with men, but I've seen it done by young women. The only difference is, the guys enjoy it.

I know some young women would probably say it's a compliment. Some older women and guys would probably wish it was done to them.

they failed to learn proper manners and civilised behavior when they were growing up.... seen it happen in many places that been over the years... but I admit am part of a generation that placed far more emphasis on manners than what see today..... good to hear you were able to talk your husband out of giving them a good hiding ...

I think it may be part of a pact mentality but there may be something natural in some guys' mentalities. For instance my brother, when he was still very young (stroller age), would whistle at girls in the mall and that's something that neither myslef nor my father ever do.

These men make up a subsection of my gender I like to refer to as morons. They can be observed engaging in equally moronic behaviour in other aspects of their lives too. For some reason, yet to be established by science, they are completely incapable of interacting society in any kind of normal way. Respect for other people and their feelings seems to be a concept that their brains are not able to process. When found in packs their behaviour is only made worse.

In all seriousness I believe that behaviour like this is simply a means of attention seeking. They probably have low self-esteem, stemming from issues during childhood, either from rejection by their peers or their parents, or both. They probably have a father who engages in the same behaviour, or no male role model at all. They have also probably never learnt to communicate effectively with the opposite sex, due to lack of exposure, and this can be seen as their desperate attempt to do so.

They probably don't have any meaningful relationships in their lives, though they might feel that that is how life is supposed to be.

It's quite sad really.

I'm sorry that you have to be exposed to it.

What I don't understand though is why they would risk a butt whooping by doing it while I'm with my husband. I probably should have asked this in my original post...duh! But, if you were in that situation with your wife/gf, how would you react. Darn it!!! Why didn't I ask that?

Personally, I would like the fact my gf/wife was desired by other men. It would remind me how lucky I am. But that's just me. I would feign anger but secretly I would smile.

A nude lady deserves even more respect. There is no clothing combination that justifies any man being anything other than gentlemanly when speaking to a lady. Even if you are soliciting a prostitute, you had better be saying "Yes, please" and "Thank you ma'am."

I assure you, there was no batting of eyelashes, flipping of the hair or any of the other things you mentioned. I was walking past a car, hand in hand with my husband!

I'm curious as to why a car full of men would do that while with my husband?

He never said you did. Why would you draw that conclusion. All he is saying is that where men have some "character flaws," so do women. Men are often willing to own up to them, as has been widely shown by replies to this thread. Do women own up to theirs? There is a wider issue here than fixating on a single point.

It says something about you that you bring it up on a predominantly male board.

Need much attention?
