I was thinking the other day,

Once everyone who believes in GOD (Whoever you perceive him to be) are safely tucked up in Heaven.
There will finally be peace on earth for the rest of us.

On the flipside, there may well then be WAR in heaven.

Peace

If it were possible for there to be war in heaven of all pureness , how could there possibly be peace on earth my friend.

Hmm makes me think

Yup I kinda hoped the rapture would happen when that nutjob said it would.
We could just give them a big land mass...say the moon, make sure they have no nukes and they can not escape and let everyone else get on with tying to reach for the stars.

If only eh lol

Funny, I have the exact thought every time I see a Rapture thread here, which is almost daily.

I'm tired of being warned about it, just wish it would happen already so I won't have to hear it anymore and I can be left alone to my apparent suffering.

Maybe the 2012'ers would go with them too?
Let's hope.

I can't help but laugh at this mindset. Obviously if the rapture were to happen, it would confirm all that doomsday preaching to be true, in which case we'd be left with 7 years of suffering, not peace on earth.

What you really hope is that religion spontaneously disappears, which wouldn't be so bad.

I was just thinking that myself. If the rapture actually did happen and we're left to remark on the event ...having not been a part of it... It certainly would mean we're in for years of hell on Earth in the near literal form. Hardly what I'd be looking forward too and one heck of a way to learn we were wrong.

You think people that don't follow the commandments are going to make the world a better place?

So you think before the commandments everyone did the opposite of them.
I'am not a christian but I'am a good decent person. Religion does not have a monopoly of good people.
Gandi wasn't a christian but he was a good person....oh wait I forgot because he has not accepted Jesus he is in hell now, same goes for the Dali Llama when he dies....

Yeah, that's basically it. Heaven is like a prison to trap those who haven't been able to figure out good and bad. If you think about it, if you were going to test people to see how good they were, you wouldn't throw them into a world where religions told them exactly how to be a good person and killed them or otherwise hindered their progress if they disobeyed.

I can already tell from other posts you've made that you've never read any part of the bible and have no idea what's actually in it.

Now you've just shown you don't know anything about religion at all....

hinduism.about.com...

Why have you made your mind up about something you've not investigated for yourself?

Wrong I was brought up reading it, I just grew out of it.
The commandments are a great idea but I think we are all good people when we are born and it is what happens to us in life what can make us do bad things.
Like I said religious people seem to think only they are good people because of they follow the commandments etc, but being good is a human trait otherwise we would have killed each other off by now.
Like I have said many times before Religion is man made not from god.
Oh and my comment about Ghandi etc came from a discussion at work from a Christian who told me I will goto Hell If I did not accept Jesus into my life, so I asked what about Ghandi? the Dali LLama are they going too? Yes I was told.
If God (take your pick which one) does exist surely all that matters in life is do more good than bad...not which club you belong to.

Read close:

Isaiah 26

19 But your dead will live, Lord;
their bodies will rise—
let those who dwell in the dust
wake up and shout for joy—
your dew is like the dew of the morning;
the earth will give birth to her dead.

20 Go, my people, enter your rooms
and shut the doors behind you;
hide yourselves for a little while
until his wrath has passed by.

21 See, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling
to punish the people of the earth for their sins.
The earth will disclose the blood shed on it;
the earth will conceal its slain no longer.

Baptism is immersion into the water of this life. The purpose of baptism into the water of reality is so that you can repent. You are veiled from what came before and allowed to develop from a small child to an adult. Along the way, you are Shepherded by God by faith. Faith is God's work in you. A person that denies that help and distances themselves from God is doing it willingly. God will not reside in a temple of sin. The body is the temple where the beast is to be sacrificed. If the High Priest is unable to do his job, the beast remains. The beast is marked by selfishness. This is why John the Baptist told them this:

Matthew 3

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. 9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with[c] the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Take away the Christians and you take away what is left holding back evil on this Earth. Be careful what you wish for.

2 Thessalonians 2

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

The Holy Spirit withholds evil on the Earth. When that Spirit is gone, nothing will hold back that fire. Remember, you light the fire you burn by. Either you use that fire to light the path for others or you light the fire that destroys you utterly. Water puts out fire and cleanses the temple.

Excellent point, OP. s/f

As far as I can tell, those waiting and WISHING and PRAYING for the Rapture to be "TODAY!!" are spending an inordinate amount of time and energy on a fantasy. They are so wrapped up in their wish for Rapture, and to be "one of the chosen and saved" they haven't much time to attend to the ACTUAL PHYSICAL sufferings and needs of others, who have crushing problems, the LEAST of which should be "am I good enough to be swept up in a fantastical Rapture?" Piling shame and guilt on top of hunger, disease, and real-world suffering is ridiculous at least, and cruel at best.

Beyond it being an utterly USELESS exercise, it seems to me to be neurotic and counterproductive, and rather selfish. There are people living in hellish environs every day, on every continent. They don't need people shouting "rapture! repent!" at them; they need practical assistance, hope for a better tomorrow and a hand UP. Not to begin hoping for NO TOMORROW AT ALL.

Just my outside point of view.

Never thought of it that way. Nice ORIGINAL thought.

Liked it very much. I don't believe in the rapture unless they are aliens snatching people for a reseeding of earth after they bring some world destruction.

Still, with no weirdoes and we might have a shot. Nice.

Thank you for acknowledging you have zero Biblical credibility to the entire forum and you have absolutely no idea what the rapture is and you have no clue about prophesy nor do you understand anything happening in the world nor any reasons why anything is the way it is,

That's a brave thing to be able to admit to publicly,

God bless

But YOU have all those answers, and all that knowledge, and credibility to offer the entire forum? YOU know why things are the way they are, and everyone else is just stupid and wrong?

Kindly share with us why your thinking is credible, why your ideas are correct, what the rapture is, all about prophecy, and your brilliant overarching knowledge of why anything is the way it is, etc......

WITHOUT QUOTING THE BIBLE. Just, in modern, understandable, SIMPLE ENGLISH.
Please.

No. There wont be one.

"...And I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the old earth was passed away and there was no more sea"

Sometimes, sea refers to masses of people.

I wasn't bringing faith into it, I just mean you keep saying stuff about the bible that's wrong.

I think you should read it again, saying stuff that's wrong will make you look stupid, whether you believe in God or not

I thought of another one after reading yours. It needs a little set up before the punchline however.

First of all, only the people who put their hope in the rapture get to be in the rapture.

Diary entry -- 2003, Wednesday night

As the bouncers were escorting me out, the preacher got one last jab in, yelling at my back "If you don't believe in the rapture, then you won't be in the rapture!!!"

Zionism, Definition: The belief that Zion, aka, a hill in Jerusalem, is the rightful capital of a World wide empire, to which all nations must pay tribute, and to which all must make yearly pilgrimage or else.

People who talk up the rapture are also predominantly Zionist. Here comes the punchline:

So the rapture angel comes to gather the people up and there's the excited believer jumping up and down in expectation, "Me, Me, oh take me next!"

The angel checks his list, looks down at the believer and says, "According to our records you are a devoted Zionist, is that correct?"

"Yes! Yes! I've devoted my whole life to Israel, voted for all the right politicians, sent money for settlements and everything. Take me, Take me."

The angel replies, "As a reward for your devotion, you have been assigned to stay here as a civil servant to Zion. You will be stamping the passports of the pilgrims for all eternity."
