I think President Obama may have opened up a can of worms by offering
support to Netanyahu and Israel's right to defend it's
self from inbound rocket fire from Gaza, not to say a country has no right to defend it's self. In Cairo in 2009, President Obama acknowledged the
Palestinians legitimate right to a state.

"So let there be no doubt: the situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable. America will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian
aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own."
Moving forward:
In a major offensive against Palestinian militants, Israel
killed a key figure in the Hamas
leadership in an airstrike Nov 14. This move came
after an anti-tank missile was fired on
Israeli soldiers patrolling the northern Gaza border on Nov 10, leaving four dead in Gaza and four wounded Israeli soldiers, not counting the scores
injured.
After the attacks that day, Benjamin Netanyahu gave these remarks to the world Nov 11, after the heightened aggression coming from Gaza.

“The world must understand that Israel will not sit idly by while attempts are made to attack us. We are prepared to escalate our response,”
he said.
Meanwhile, the next day, militants in Gaza
intensified
their attacks, launching some 10 missiles into southern Israel, totaling 110 fired rockets since Nov 10.
Gaza militants launched 10 rockets into southern Israel by midday Monday, including one that struck the yard of a house, the military said. The
barrage ramps up pressure on the Israeli government to stage a large-scale operation aimed at stopping the persistent attacks
Mind you, during this period Israel also retaliated twice against Syrian aggression. The first time was
Nov 11, where warning shots
were fired over the border. The second time happened the next
day, where Israel claims direct hits were made. And
after just browsing the web for current events I came across
this , which now puts the total at
three.
This ongoing battle in Gaza and the spillover into Israel had to be manufactured, or at least to think it wouldn't result in this would be utterly
naive. Let's take a step back to Libya and
look at the rebel fighters who fought that battle, and where those weapons
eventually ended
up, and what
type of
armaments they were.

The Libyan government apparently wants to share its successful experience of overthrowing the Gaddafi regime with like-minded Syrians. It has sent
600 of its troops to support local militants against the Assad regime, according to media reports. The fighters have joined the Free Syria Army, the
militant group carrying out attacks on government forces in Syria, reports the Egyptian news website Al-Ray Al-Arabi citing its sources. The report
says the troops entered Syria through Turkish territory. The alleged incursion happened with the consent of the chairman of the Libyan National
Transitional Council (NTC) Mustafa Abdul Jalil. The NTC allegedly welcomed volunteers to join the surge.
It's no surprise what the
element inside Syria is
comprised of or where they came from and who they are. It was only a matter of time before what is happening now in the region came to the border of
Israel.
So ,whose really firing those rockets into Israel?
It's going to be interesting to see how this escalation will be viewed in the Arab world, and how President Obama will be scene after his Cairo
message. All I can say is it looks like Netanyahu has called his
bluff, which will be the
litmus test for the President's statesmanship.
