How has this happened to us, our nation . Has the ability to reason and use logic completely been lost to us as a society, as a people? Has our need to be sustained by the Government, to be on programs, food assistance, welfare, unemployment, disability, health coverage, school loans, and yes even cell phone assistance blinded us, deafened us, and stripped us of our dignity?

How can we as a people watch our nation fall into the pit of debt to other nations and still vote for the continuation of this course we are on?

Have we not lost our very souls as a people, have we pawned our identity to have instant answers to our problems? We have settled for less and burdened our children with immeasurable debt in order to keep our selves comfortable, fed, and clothed.

The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Are we not to be men and women of honor and principle? Can we not strive to be a people of strength and courage to withstand this time, and do so with integrity and character, not compromising our vision of a great nation that does not need to hold the hand of the Government to merely survive? But instead stand with one another, opening our homes and lives to sustain one another through this storm?

This is the heart of our forefathers, we are our brothers and sisters keepers! We can see through this storm that is so dark and stand united on our own, in our own strength and see this great nation once again be all that it was meant to be!

No political party can ever give us our dignity, only strip us of our identity. For our call to strength comes from those voices of the past that stood in the gap, fought for our liberty, and insured our freedoms.

We have the promise in our beloved Constitution...the question is, do we lack the heart to see this all through? This nation will see the light of day again if we don't fall asleep at our posts.

I know some patriots are going Galt - so you know how they feel things are shaping.

The moral compass of society is falling apart, and with it goes everything else.

Dignity does not feed families.

Patriotism does not pay the bills.

Fact is, we must live in the system we are born in to and it becomes clearer everyday that our Constitution fails to stifle the arrogance and cold-hearted ruthlessness of those we cannot control.

Should we demonize a woman that uses food stamps to feed her kids when she cannot find work?

Is a Man that will steal to feed his family less-honorable than the man that works for a bank that steals money from people....yet does not have to ask the government for assistance?

I do understand where you are coming from; but, it was our loss of morality that led to all of this. I am not preaching, I am recognizing what I have watched over the last 50 years. First we had the beat generation, they accepted some outliers, then we had the hippies and they promoted free sex and drug use (they also moved us away from segregation and protested the wars), then we had the generation in the 70s. People sought self fulfillment first and foremost, they also stopped believing in the family. Then we had the 80s and greed was good. During the 90s we opened up television to nudity and an acceptance of alternate lifestyles.

I will fast forward to today, we have no morality. It is everyone for their self interest. When Romney can run on a platform of only caring and representing some of us, about half and still get as many votes as he did, then it doesn't matter who we elect. I don't really care for Obama and trust only a couple of our elected officials anymore.

All societies eventually fail, the failure begins when they no longer care about each other and only care about those like them, that help them or that are friends or relatives. They worry about what effects them rather than what is right.
