Does anyone know where the Hunters in Tennessee were hunting at the time they saw the Meteorite?

I am trying to map out some trajectory of a meteorite that three witnesses have said they saw at the time of the explosion on in the UK one in TN and the other in SC.

If anyone else saw a meteorite at the time of the explosion please give you location and the direct and angle (best as you can guess) so I can work on a mapping model. If you happen to notice the time please note that too.

point 4) his car shook twice because their is the Percussion Wave from the sound and then their is the ground shock wave. the second travels slower than the first.

Just a small point, but I think you have this backward.

The shockwave, or blastwave, or just shock from the explosion, always travels faster than the speed of sound. It is a compressional wave or overpressure from extremely fast expansion of the detonated material, whether gas or solid, which 'pushes' the air (and other material, such as a house, in this case) surrounding it, very quickly.
In the case of gas detonations, the velocities are typically between 1,800 - 3,000 meter/second, and solid explosives anywhere from 4,000 - 10,300 meters/second.
The speed of sound is only around 343 meters/second at 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

Using ATS search I think I found the post you are asking about.

From here.

Guys me and my friend were hunting in Rock Island Tennessee the same night this happened and seen this HUGE light streak that lasted about 6 seconds in the sky. At first we thought it was a shooting star but no, it left a long trail of orange and it was VERY bright. But after 6 seconds it seemed like it burned out because the light got super bright then went out. I think this, let's say "meteor" and this is connected. This is something bigger getting covered up.

If he was referring to Rock Island in Middle Tennessee, then it is located south of I-40 in between Nashville & Knoxville. Map here.

your correct I did have it backward. thank you for pointing that out. But it still stands that two separate shaking of his car could be explained without there being more than one explosion

Now the person from SC didn't report seeing it turn orange nor did the guy in the UK so they didn't see it at the same exact moment. I will look for the UK post and see what he said he saw again. some where around page 52

I remember that post from when I was posting yesterday.

Found it for you here.

Hey guys, I haven't read through all the comments for this post yet, just a quick scan so I don't know if you've all found the cause of what happened yet.
But last night, around 4am (UK time)....I couldn't sleep so I went for a star gaze and I saw, what I'm guessing was one mammoth meteor, biggest I've ever seen, hit our atmosphere, leaving a huge white streak behind it. Me and my house mate were certain that thing would have hit somewhere. I came online to have a search to see if it had and I found your post...
Now being completely unable to figure out whether this could have hit where you guys are I will leave it in your capable hands. It's probably nothing but just thought I'd add that into the possibility pot anyway!
(I live in Norwich, England if that helps at all)

There might be another 'UK' post, but this is the one I remembered.

Hope it helps!

ooook, if no one else is gonna mention it, i will ... what are those "for sale" signs made out of anyway ??? all the destruction and inferno around it, yet it stands and is still legible ... what's that about ?

that would actually point to the direction of the blast. faced parallel to the explosion would blow it down and perpendicular would leave it standing

Norwich is on the Eastern side of England. I bet he thought it hit in England at first but only found the posts about Indiana. If the one he saw was the largest he ever saw and it traveled faster than 17,000mph it would have been a at least 30 minutes (minus the time difference) maximum from the time he saw it to the impact in Indiana.

He doesn't tell us which direction he saw it traveling. but if he thinks it was Indiana then it was traveling WSW

If it were that big then someone knew it was going to strike 30 minutes prior to impact. the problem is no one knew where it would hit so don't panic the whole US and Canada about the meteorite strike if you can't say where it would strike.

If it is the same meteorite. then SC would have seen it traveling from right to left from high to low but not straight down, If he saw one go straight down then it was traveling NNW, and the guys in TN would have seen it at about due north or the same except at a more acute angle or lower altitude. than SC. I doubt it was the same one.

from the overhead shot of the house it looks like it originated in the garage which would point to a hw tank or furnace

I noticed the cloud formation in the first photo you posted. It looks like a tube coming from the sky down ...take a look..what might cause that? I never have seen anything like that.
either a helicopter light or light on top of a telescoping pole

I live less than 30 miles away from the explosion and was outside around a bonefire with some friends that night. if there was a meteor im sure one of us would have seen that.

Why would a hotwater heater or furnace be in the garage with a house that has a basement? Is that common practice in IN?

I live about an hour away from Indianapolis and abc news radio said there was a very large explosion that destroyed surrounding houses and they were trying to clear everyone out. Also said they think it was natural gas related.

I was on yahoo and saw this article about a giant explosion in an Indianapolis neighborhood. Sounds about right to me, give it a look.

please dont take this the wrong way....

but we had that information about 50 pages ago.

It should be required for anyone to comment in a thread to have to read the whole thread before they can post to save confusion and going over the same thing time and time again.

again, nothing against you, not meant to be mean or insulting, its just that about every 3 pages someone has come in and stated things such as this, then it gets the thread going in circles rehashing what was already discussed.

My uncles house is like that, he has a theater and a few bedrooms in the basement. so maybe it is common in IN

Does everyone here get stupid when they sign into ATS?

And a mod is nowhere to be found

I've wondered about the mods too. Where are they? Maybe someone needs to start some # before they come.

Or....

Maybe the same secret organization who blew up the house has kidnapped the mods.

a lot of the new homes around here have the 'in floor heating', where pipes and tubes are ran through a jypsim floor then wood put on top of that, could be the garage is where the heating unit and controls for this system.

just a idea, may be wrong.

I'm just waking up drinking a cup of coffee and I don't feel like reading 10 or 15 pages of new comments right now but I was wondering if there have been any updates since page 40 or so. I know I sound lazy and I am but if somebody could fill me in with any new info. from this morning I'll give you a star and flag your next thread.

I like your idea. Not a bird. Not a plane. Not a gas leak. Not a meteor.

Something else yet undefined.
