No no. You need to look at the good overhead shots on yahoo. There are chunks missing out of houses all around.

They apparently have 31 houses that will have to be demolished according to yahoo, and 80 are damaged.

I see sorry as I said school boy error for not seeing all the pics it's only 8am in the UK I'm at work and using my iPhone. But wouldn't other houses be damaged from falling debris from the explosion ? I'm going to be a pain and still say gas explosion

Can you post a link of the areial shots ?

Could it also be that if it was a gas explosion it may of ruptured other gas lines and pipes...also the heat of the initial explosion caused other fires. Also I could be wrong but those houses look mainly made out of wood. Wood doesn't really stand a chance against explosions .. Then again neither do bricks

SHHH, let us speculate before we debunk the official lie/excuse...

I say that in a jesting manner, but PLEASE, don't tell me you accept everything your government tells you, by default? "OMG, the government has never lied or conducted experiments on a civilian population! Nor any foul play or cover-ups involved! OMG, my government would never do this!" Yeah, if you are one of THESE media-spoon-fed lemmings who says that to themselves, then you are embarrassingly NAIVE on an epic scale... Certainly naive to history.

Hey guys, I haven't read through all the comments for this post yet, just a quick scan so I don't know if you've all found the cause of what happened yet.
But last night, around 4am (UK time)....I couldn't sleep so I went for a star gaze and I saw, what I'm guessing was one mammoth meteor, biggest I've ever seen, hit our atmosphere, leaving a huge white streak behind it. Me and my house mate were certain that thing would have hit somewhere. I came online to have a search to see if it had and I found your post...
Now being completely unable to figure out whether this could have hit where you guys are I will leave it in your capable hands. It's probably nothing but just thought I'd add that into the possibility pot anyway!
(I live in Norwich, England if that helps at all)

This is very interesting! Because you are on the Western European Time Zone and Indiana is the Central Time hours difference is +6. This would put the time you saw the meteor between 10 and 11 PM CST! We may have just found our answer!!

I understand some people think this is stupid..but if its so blatantly obvious, then what caused it? And why haven't they determined the cause? I don't think it's a stupid discussion, and feel the mods haven't intervened because its a legit debate of the cause..I don't think they'd let it get to so many pages if they saw it as 'stupid' either..

If its gas then why won't they just say 'it was caused by gas'.. ?
I don't think anyone deserves to be mocked for their theories on what happened, I believe everyone has the right to speculate when they're not told the whole story.

Sorry to wade in and also this isn't meant to come across argumeantive
but when a logic explanation overwhelms silly ideas such as nukes, plane crash or meteorite surely it's the right way of seeing what happened here

^ I hope that made sense

Ah ok. That seems more accurate that what Yahoo had. They said 80 homes were damaged and 31 would require demolition. I thought that must have been a crazy explosion. In the picture I did see several homes missing large portions of roof and walls.

The gas company made a statement that it wasn't a gas leak.

I live in the area, we have been told, not gas, not meth, not bomb

24hrs later and still no official explanation, the blast was heard/felt all over the city

Nah.. It's cool I was misled about the damage by stories too. I think it's somewhere in between what you originally thought and what I originally thought. I had read that 31 houses would need to be brought down, but apparently only 5 will be demolished. It was 31 that had extensive damage, 5 to be brought down, and 80 damaged.

Don't apologize, I simply can't tell tone through text

Everyone is entitled their own opinion, no matter how they differ.
If we all agreed, debate would be no fun.
P.S. Gas companies are claiming it was not caused by gas..few other sources say they are ruling it out as well.
I am just hoping by morning maybe they will have a statement or reason behind what happened, who knows though.

True enough.

City officials estimated damage at $3.5 million. A local gas utility said an initial inspection found no gas leaks in the area.

Hi lee thank you mate but again all I see is 3 maybe 4 houses destroyed. Others may have to be demolished due to being structurely unsafe ... I just can't see how over 80 houses could be affected

I thought it looked pretty big for a gas leak. I mean, I know gas is capable of obliterating a house, but the damage surrounding just seems beyond what I have seen from a gas leak case. Not that I am an expert or have seen a lot, but internet, news, etc.

Well it could be anything. I mean the shockwave could have broken the windows on every house in a huge radius and those would be included in the damage. Number might actually be small when you consider that kind of damage being included.

Or say bricks and wood thrown through the neighborhood. It said the house had an exterior brick wall I think. It might have acted like a giant frag.
