I just had my signiture removed because it violated some guidelines

I didn't realize these were the guidelines and I apologized for my error

Here is what was sent to me

Signatures:

A maximum of five lines of text, with any graphic image counting as one line.

No advertising of your personal or other websites until you have been a contributing member for at least 60 days.

GIF and JPEF file formats for any images with a maximum dimension of 500 pixels wide by 50 pixels tall. File sizes are not to exceed 25k, and animated GIF's are allowed.

No profanity. No 3rd party advertising other than links and copy to your own personal website(s). The content of your personal website may be reviewed, however, and based on how it compares to the standards and Terms of ATS, you may be asked to removed the link to your personal website.

I'll ask for help from DTOM (not the one who removed it, but that one has been very supportive and helpful, not complaining about it at all) to clarify a little, but it seems we may not be able to use animations in our logo, at least not the logo we put in our signitures

Otto just informed me I was reading a "not" into it that isn't there!

ETA: our favorite was also over 25k

Perhaps we can still use the animated ones in the thread in some way, but we'll probably need to tailor the winner for the signiture to match the guidelines given unless some kind of special permission is given for the logo which probably won't happen as the guidelines are there for a reason

The dimensions set for the contest were 500x55 so it may have been the height in addition to the file size.

I think it is still useable if the dimensions are decreased - maybe focus on the actual tool shed, get rid of a couple of the lights, and reduce the number of frames there.

We'll have to wait for DTOM to clarify for us. The resize should be pretty easy, so that's no trouble. We have to keep the file size below 25k, that seems to be the "BIG" issue of it.
The "no animations" is very disappointing as they are definitely my favorite. If animations are somehow allowed for us due to the nature of the signiture, we'll still have to get it under 25k.... which we are more than capable of doing since all of the participants so far have shown great skill and talent!

It's just "hurry up and wait" now while DTOM does the hard work. Sorry DTOM, we love ya!


ETA: fixed my mistake of thinking it said "not" allowed, thanks to Otto pointing out it says they ARE allowed

The guidelines say "Animated GIFs are allowed". So, we should be fine. I really think it was the dimensions that made it too big.

There's no problem with animations, just pay attention to dimensions and filesize:


Avatars: File sizes are not to exceed 75k, and animated GIF's are allowed.


Signatures: GIF and JPEF file formats for any image with a maximum dimension of 500 pixels wide by 50 pixels tall. File size is not to exceed 25k, and animated GIF's are allowed.
