i just noticed that the recent/current meeting in indonesia about democracy, attended by the oz pm gillard, was an opportunity ignored by that same person. she made NO attempt to converse with ahmadinejad of iran. i would have thought if she was genuinely interested in peace in the middle east she would take the opportunity to have a one on one discussion with him. but i guess she was told by her handlers not to.
