Lightning photos are great.
Here's some I took a few years back, also Melbourne, Australia.
Timing is everything. Having the camera setup (on tripod) before the storm gets to you is very important. You dont want to get rained on, and its
also best if you get the storm as it approaches so you dont shoot at it behind a wall of rain.
Not too far away, and not too close.
Point the camera where you think the most lightning is, make a completely wild guess at the fstop, open the shutter for a minute or so and hope for
the best. Too much light and the shot is washed out, too little and its unusably dark. Too short, you dont get many lightning bolts, too long
and the clouds are blurry.
