New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg said that from 6:00 am local time on Friday only cars with licence plates ending in odd numbers would be allowed to fill up on odd-numbered dates. Cars with plates ending in an even number or a zero would be eligible on even-numbered days.

I actually think this is a good idea, with all the problems, long lines, and fighting going on.
I think maybe they should've started a few days before the snowstorm though.

It still amazes me that when a hurricane/cyclone is predicted to hit land in a couple of days, that no one really has the foresight to get some Jerry cans and go buy some!
I know when we had floods hit here in Queensland, 2 days before it got serious I already had 120 liters of fuel and 60 liters of diesel.
I wish people would be more prepared, but I guess being labeled as a "prepper" these days is like being a lepper.

True that Alan. However we have cyclones every year and know what to expect. (fellow queenslander).

Many of the population in New York openly admited they were not preparing. They thought the media was making it sound worst than it would be (which they were).
