For example, people on ATS often claim that it's unfair to label the Republican party as racist, sexist, homophobic, religious zealots. And when you look at who they appeal to through statistical analysis, their voter base is white, Christian, heterosexual men.

For another example, some people might think that it's unfair to label people whose avatars have pentagrams in them as Satanic Baby Eaters.... And when you look at who usually uses pentagrams in their avatars, they are usually not Christian.

Do you see what I did there?

I know that you didn't, so let me set you straight....

label the Republican party as racist, sexist, homophobic, religious zealots.

who they appeal to through statistical analysis, their voter base is white, Christian, heterosexual men.

You just HEAVILY IMPLIED that White people are racist, Christians are religious zealots, heterosexuals are homophobic, and men are sexist.

Would you like to rephrase yourself?

And this post isn't intended toward you, just a generalized rant.

God never loved him, God couldn't care less for him, or either of the politicians, or any of us. God doesn't need praised, or worshipped, and it is a sin of the first order to even attempt to speculate on the mind of God. We can't speak for God.

There is a god, that much is real. Prayer works, that much is real. But it only works to help you wrap your mind around a difficult concept, it doesn't move buildings or change the direction of storm winds.

Beck is an embarrassment to religion, politics, journalism, and humans in general.

The Right Wing believes it is GOD'S WILL that a woman should be impregnated by her rapist or that a hurricane should wipe out a city to stop it from voting, then it was clearly GOD'S WILL that Obama won. After all, every thing that happens is clearly GOD'S WILL.

Romney and Obama were neck and neck on the popular vote. And about 73% of America identifies as christian. 90% believe in God. Some 46% believe in the creationist genesis accounting.

The republican party is not dying. Elections swing back and forth between the parties.

The republican party might moderate over time, but that won't make them democrats.

So I specifically disagiree with you here:

............
Like it or not, the Republican party is religiously based. That's not some myth, not some strange notion, it's fact, that they are happy to preach about that at every opportunity. The party builds its platform on religion and conviction that many other Americans no longer associate with.
.........

..........
Incidentally, it's potentially why they lost this election, and why they will probably lose every future election too. It's crunch time, they're dinosaurs living in a world that is moving on without them. Just like the Christian faiths they are being left behind and their numbers dwindling because the Humanity is becoming far more educated.
.........

People may moderate their views, but christianity and the republican party are definitely not passing away like dinosaurs. You live a sheltered life if you think this is true.

Fundamentalist christianity can't run the republican party, though. Support isn't high enough. But Americans certainly identify with christianity on the whole. A streamlined form of it.

You ignore how close Romney came to winning and that the nation is still split.

You've missed the point.

Romney got the same percentage of the white male vote as George Bush Sr., and that was enough for him to win. That is no longer the case.

The demographics have made it so that you cannot win by alienating the "other".

Put another way, Obama won while suggesting:

Raising taxes on the rich
Defending a plan many think is "socialized medicine"
Defending governement spending
Embracing gays
Embracing minorities
Embracing women

10 years ago he would've lost

Two days ago though, he won, because America is changing.

It is becoming more socially liberal.
More diverse.
Less "Christian Right"

The GOP will find it harder and harder to win by only appealing to their traditional base, and that's not ever gonna be undone.

I think it goes like this:
christian != pentagram
others = pentagram
satanists = pentagram
satanists = satanic baby eater
(cannot say that everyone with a pentragram is a satanic baby eater)

democrat != republican voter base
others = republican voter base
white heterosexual christian = republican voter base
white hereosexual christian = sexist, homophobic, religious zealot
(cannot say everyone that's a republican is a sexist, homophobic, religious zealot)

But there're too many exceptions to all this. Satanists can be nice proactive people who work peacefully in the community. And white heterosexual christians can be tolerant and accepting.

Are republicans generally more conservative than democrats? Is that labeling? SOME white heterosexual christians are sexist and homophobic and religiously zealous. But are they moreso that way than other people? What about other religions? Labeling is common but it's wrong when it comes loaded. For example, if I say that ALL christian fundamentalists are ignorant then I am wrong. In fact, there might be quite a few of them that're much smarter and more capable than I am.

Ummmm, all the religious people! All the preachers and pastors and priests.

Religious folk always presume to know the mind of god.

Beck's statement was actually that he obviously doesn't know the mind of god, which I'm sure was quite a hit on the ego, but in the moment, at least he was admitting as much. The fact that he thought he knew it to begin with is human nature I suppose.

Actually, God did put Obama back in power, because he's bringing this to an end for the judgement of man. Get right with Yahveh and get ready to meet your maker, because Obama is going to disarm all our nukes and leave us at the mercy of other nuclear powers who will jump at the chance to destroy us so they can be on the top for a change. Russia and China swap places with the U.S. and the U.S. becomes Guatemala.

Ohhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! *hand covering mouth, looking down and to the side*

I've heard there's "hell to pay" from the campaign supporters. Apparently the Republicans really, REALLY thought they were going to win.

I would have loved to see Romney being told, "Sorry Mitt, not this time..."

Look, Mitt let his opponet define him. If Romney had a strong platform and stuck to it -- he could have defined himself. His flip-flopping gave the Obama camp enough define him into someone unelectable.

Beck on Romney’s loss: ‘Man, sometimes God really sucks’

“Man, sometimes God really sucks,” the radio host lamented. “I got up yesterday at 3:00 in the morning and I knew. And I couldn’t sleep and I started to say my prayers and I got up and kneeled down by the edge of my bed and I knew that — or I suspected that my mind’s not God’s mind, and the peace and the comfort that he had given me and so many of my friends was not about an election.”

www.rawstory.com...

The rightwing is in full on freak out mode.

Good.

Now even Glenn Beck is turning on "God," because a Mormon, pathological liar, didn't get elected.

Welcome to the new America Glenn, white Christian men are no longer the majority voter. Blaming "God" and whining makes you look as pathetic as you actually are.

Well...there you have it. Glenn Beck is a blasphemer and a heretic. He must hate America, George Washington, and puppy dogs.

Burn the witch!!! Burn the witch!!!
