I see no reason to wreck the planet for everything else.

Just people need to go.

Personally, I've got my money on the octopus. They are going places. They just need to work on their lifespan.

Dorito shell tacos huh.

That's the pinnacle of human achievement?

Without a doubt

I rest my case.

You clearly have never tried one.

The Dorito shelled taco will be what the aliens come for when they invade the earth.
Was going to go with music...but..well Rebecca Black ruined that for our species. Thanks Rebecca!!!

You're right I have never tried.one of them, I would not put that crap in my body.

Yes, Rebecca Black is reason enough to end it all.

You just have to look at all other species against ours.
All species use their surroundings to survive, ants make anthills out of mud, monkeys live in trees.

We create our own habitat rather than utilise any provided, we have scarred the planet with concrete roads and buildings, we change things to suit us. It's biting us in the ass as we speak.

Yes, I agree, the planet should stay (as much as I would like to see what happens when one rotates a magnetic field at 1.27C). We could stay too, but I do believe there is a genetic correction in order and the politicians, bankers and other sundry flavours of sociopath and psychopath should go first maybe? That might actually be enough to break the cycle, start the healing and get on the right track as a species.

Now you mention the octopus, they are clever little beasties, I doubt they would become truly technological animals in less than a million years, however, if you could cross-breed them genetically with certain forms of jellyfish, they would be capable of living for thousands of years. Lots of time to learn the "ropes" so they too can screw things up later and be faced with the same connundrum after they become air breathers.

Cheers - Dave

Well,

It's been almost two weeks, and not one good reason why humanity should continue to exist.

Ok then, I guess it's time to get to work.

The extinction of humans?
Not now mate, not at this present moment.
When I'm not here, I don't care, but whilst I have my life ahead of me I don't want to die.
In 1000 years I wont be here, so I don't think I'm gonna stress too much where the planet will be or the future humans.
So extinction when we're alive, nope.
Once we're gone, let it burn. Don't you like things burning? Then let it all burn, problem is you wont watch it (if it's after your time), but there's always matches.

Can you modify your tech so its not an all or nothing deal? For there are some - a precious few - that actually are nearly a distinct species that embody the best qualities of humanity and would make an ideal basis for humanity 2.0 (or 64.0 or whatever refinement iteration is accurate).

So while the vast majority of the hideously cruel, idiotic, destructive (to self and others), violent, small & closed minded (the list of undesirable traits could continue for several dozen pages; for brevity's sake we'll limit it to these) monsters colloquially known as "man" has more than earned the fate of being swept from existence, there are someti truly good humans who have managed to keep from being assimilated by the aforementioned monsters. Most of these good hearted and strong minded are miserable and weary from the day to day struggle caused by the actions and environment imposed by the unconscionable others and would understand if they were swept away with the refuse. But would be an incredible coup if they could be differentiated from the chaff and allowed the chance to shine and flourish without the masses constantly knocking them down whether through pressure to conform or outright oppression in all its forms.

Of course there's always the consideration of what standards are being sed to judge who is good and who is bad, and a truly advanced filtering approach should have extreme granularity so that those who redeemable can also be identified.and preserved. Afterall, many people may si ply be the products of the environment I which they were raised, and to simply wipe them out with the true targets is no better than the elite lacing their world with poisons and mind-obliterating programs and then detesting them for being the very weak, sick and stupid beings they made them into in the first place!

So, venting rant aside, and fully aware that my own ideas of right and wrong may not be the only or completely accurate measures of such, I side with preserving some people, the ones who are deserving by virtue of being good and truly ideal and intelligent, compassionate, and better. Those that would be better had circumstances been different also should be given the chance to thrive. So if you have the power and technology then use it - but use it wisely! And the rest of mankind - the ones who lead by deception intended to harm the innocent, that rape and pillage the earth and animals and one another? Get rid of them, in fact use your advanced tech and go back and prevent them ever being in any position to have brought the world to the current state its in!

I'm all aboard for that. :-)
