The summer breeze that brushed my face
The tender warmth of your embrace
The touch of skin and lips and hair
The knowledge of being lighter than air
I remember your eyes, so warm and brown
The way they sparkled as the sun went down
I remember the feel of your breath on my face
And the way we strained to keep the pace
Later, lying beneath the dark summer sky
Together as one, the world passing us by
You showed me the stars on that magical night
I surrendered my heart, gave up the fight
Our love grew wings, began to soar
I took what you gave, but I wanted more
Finally, spent, we lay at last
The dice now rolled, our lots cast
But I do not fear what lies ahead
"Marry me," you asked. "Yes," I said
The future now here, an oncoming tide
That matters not, if you be by my side.
For my husband
