masqua, could you give us a little more to go on? I would like to enter the next contest as well, but I may need a little time to get the creative juices flowing.
Will this be another poem or more of a short story contest?
Should we be looking to have it set in modern times or take a Mayan stance on it?
Exactly what will you be looking for?
Just an itsy bitsy hint....................

Naturally.

I'm considering a contest in which the author puts forward, primarily in short story form (although all forms will be acceptable like always), a scenario he or she might find plausible for 21.12.2012, considering the events which have so far occured in 2012 and which could culminate in the last few days left in the year.

No-one can say that there have not been lots of incidences to throw into the mix. All one needs do is check out the most recent threads on ATS, all the way from drought to severe storms, rising sea levels (NYC), global conflicts and political upheavals. Lots of grist for that mill to draw on for inspiration.

A controversial story will, I'm sure, get lots of feedback and that usually tends to get more flags, so I suggest no-one holds back with their prophecies on the prophecy (T&C compliant, of course).

Well, I have a new entry.

After all the billions of poetry entries, I'll interject a new format, Animated Poetry.

Just something to raise the bar a bit.

I gave the poem to my mom. My wife read it to her because I could not get through it.
I held mom in my arms as she cried.
I know its not an epic or even great poem but it is a part of me and my story, as well as hers. Several family friends and even one of my brothers were emotional over it.
I appreciate all of the input.

I read almost every entry, and I have to admit, we really do have lots of talent here on ATS.
I was really surprised at the # of entries. I guess it was the subject matter.
We have all loved, we have all lost.......we have all been broken hearted.
Thanks to those who read my poems and gave encouraging comments.
I stopped writing years ago, and never was one for poetry. This has kind of brought that spark back and now that I am older, I find I even enjoy writting poetry.
Also A BIG THANKS to masqua for the work done in this forum!!!!

Congrats to all the Winners! There were many amazing entries this month, but our flags have determined the winners.

I think this month we had the most entries ever for recent times.
