Enjoy this song, I'm sure it means something different for everyone.
You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
You may find yourself in another part of the world
You may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
You may find yourself in a beautiful house with a beautiful wife
You may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
You may ask yourself, how do I work this?
You may ask yourself, where is that large automobile?
You may tell yourself, this is not my beautiful house
You may tell yourself, this is not my beautiful wife
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Water dissolving and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water, carry the water
Remove the water from the bottom of the ocean
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground
Letting the days go by, into silent water
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
You may ask yourself, what is that beautiful house?
You may ask yourself, where does that highway lead to?
You may ask yourself, am I right, am I wrong?
You may say to yourself, my god, what have I done?
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground
Letting the days go by, into silent water
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Time isn't holding us, time isn't after us
Time isn't holding us, time doesn't hold you back
Time isn't holding us, time isn't after us
Time isn't holding us...
Letting the days go by, letting the days go by, letting the days go by, once in a lifetime (?)
Letting the days go by, letting the days go by, letting the days go by, once in a lifetime
Hmm Seems the all lyrics here are quite fitting for this site. I found a thread from 2004 with only 3 posts .
I won't pretend to be a huge talking heads/ David Byrne fan, but i do like them, and now that I am older and actually listening, I like them a lot
more.
I really like David Byrne and the Talking Heads. Thanks for reminding me what a great band they are.
I read some of Byrne's stuff. I really like his writing style. His new book "How Music Works" is very well done, imo.
At first I thought, 'how insightful', then I was like 'this is deep!' (and I'm really jaded)
Some of his observations on music are just hilarious. I heard a recent interview with Byrne, and he said things like 'Have you ever noticed that
people who claim to love certain genres of music will actually establish "rules" for that music? They will explain to you the do's and dont's of
that music?'
He also said he thought it funny that many people think that playing "their" music very loud somehow makes it more profound.
Hmm, dont have the 5 min right this sec to watch it but i will later.
I think I watched another clip from this movie. It was of him interviewing himself. He was dressed up like a bunch of different people, sitting
across from his self asking questions. I was interesting to say the least. Thanks
