Bus drivers can't get to work because there is no subway.
I live in nyc, haven't been to my job since last friday.
My job is underwater right now actually and they still have no power.

It's called a SECURITY CAMERA!

This whole screaming photoshop at everything now is a bit ridiculous. Why not do a little research of your own first? It's very simple to reverse google image a picture to get the source. It's actually a very good research tool to use.


WOW OP! I saw these pics right after they were posted to FB as well as many others. It's nuts and scary for people there. I wonder how this will affect the millions who use the subways for travel to and from for work. This is a huge disaster for that area. I don't care what people say about this storm, it was a big deal and still is. Yes we in FL get storms like this but places up north are not built for something like this nor are they as prepared. You can only prepare so much but when the physical structure isn't prepared you are pretty much screwed. Good luck to everyone up north! *hugs* from FL.

This may be the worst disaster to hit it so far, and I'm sure it looks pretty nasty down there-- but how bad can it really be if it is going to be fixed in just a couple of days? From the way it's been described, you'd think they'd never be able to use it again.

This is the kind of post that makes ATS look REALLY stupid. Time to get the tinfoil hats out!

Having worked in several secure control rooms, and as the NYC subway system is a primary target requiring EXTENSIVE security, there are live cameras ALL OVER.

This image you are seeing is not taken by a person sitting there waiting, and it doesn't need to be shopped. It's a CCTV image from one of the thousands of cameras covering the NY subway system.

Tell me, what would be the purpose of shutting down the entire system after making up a magical story like this, and one that any one of the many thousands of employees with access to the system and the control rooms and city management could openly debunk?

Who benefits from this exactly? The city will loose potentially billions in revenue, tourism will be hit, trading will be hit. I fail to see the motivation for "faking" a disaster like this.

Some common sense people, please?

It's constantly on my local news and it does look disgusting. Don't know how long it will take to clean all that up. What a big mess everywhere...

Evidently, just a few days.
In the meantime, I'd like to find some pictures of it. The only one I've seen is the greenish one of the platform surrounded by water.

No busses because where is the gas supposed to come from? When the area affected is this widespread, recovery WILL TAKE MONTHS. Something vaguely approximating normalcy will take weeks.

As far as the subway goes, on the news they said that the tunnel's lengths add up to the distance between NYC and Chicago and since it's salt water, they have to go over every inch of them before they get working again.

You have millions of people crammed into a tiny space and nobody is growing their own food, energy or anything else; the vast majority are so spoiled they can't fathom being without electricity for more than a few minutes; they live in many flight-walkups, work in the same now, and there's no elevators... tiny kitchens in tiny apartments with no storage space, in a city where most people shop almost daily for food...

NYC is a deathtrap in an awful lot of ways.
