Someone in the other thread said this deserved it's own thread, so here it is. As rare a posting by me in Political Madness as this was for Geraldo to say. Thanks, Geraldo, for the sanity check. Maybe you're getting a little bit of your soul back.

The right wing media frenzy over the tragedy at the consulate is just sad, these people are using the deaths of these people solely for political gain.

There is NO way for us, or retired generals to know what exactly happened and to blindly accuse the administration of planning this is just absurd and shows just how low the Right wingers have sunk.

I'm glad more and more people are coming out to say how disgusted they are at the way the neo cons have used this tragedy. They certainly are not alone.

The people who would have received an order to do something to attempt to defend the 4 Americans who were killed were told NOT TO! What do you mean there is no way to know? So when Obama describes "not knowing" the situation on the ground, while it is now a known fact that he was watching the event unfold live, emergency messages had been sent to Washington, and 2 hours into the attack someone had informed the White House of their responsibility behind the attack...and NOTHING was done for 5 more hours. These men didn't die 10 or 15 minutes, or an hour into the attack. They were ambushed. The last of them made it to hour 7 before he was killed. These are all now known to be facts. Again...explain how our Commander in Chief, should not have to address this situation? Or take responsibility? Explain how this should NOT be politicized?

For a start, let's let this man do it for you.

The father of Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya who was killed in the attack in Benghazi last month, said his son's death shouldn't be politicized in the presidential campaign. "It would really be abhorrent to make this into a campaign issue," Jan Stevens, 77, said in a telephone interview from his home in Loomis, Calif., as he prepares for a memorial service for his son next week.

NO, they were not. To continue to say so is a slap in the face to those who did try to save those four men, and it diminishes their heroism in saving those that they were able to.

This whole thing by the Right is spitting on those 4 graves. It's disgusting and it has to stop!

He addressed it, he called it a terrorist attack. Seriously soldiers all over the world are killed and nothing is done about it. This consulate was in a hot spot for terrorist activity. This was a tragic event and nothing more.

The protest that lead to the attack was about the movie that was released on youtube about islam,

You do not open fire from an AC-130 on hundreds of people just because there are 2 or 4 terrorists using the group for cover.

You certainly don't fire missiles from drones or send in a squad of marines, because soon that place would have turned into Mogadishu 2.0.

How much longer will the right keep dragging the bodies of the deceased through their mud?

Neat...she also made that comment 13 days ago, before it was abhorrently obvious that the truth had not been told, and those men were allowed to be killed without their Commander In Chief utilizing AVAILABLE resources, knowledge of the situation and TIME to at least make an attempt to aid them in some fashion. Check the date of your source next time.

Yes, they were. That is what "stand down" means...

Thousands of soldiers die over a war started off lies and the right wing could care less.

4 Americans die while doing consulate duty and all of a sudden republicans act like they care

Neat? She? Ummm...okay.

And who started politicizing Benghazi almost the moment it happened?

First things first. I'm not a republican. Registered democrat. Secondly, it isn't the loss of lives that needs to be politicized. It's the fact that the president and his administration, lied and lied and lied some more. They blamed others, and every time we learn something new regarding this situation, their story changes, ever so slightly. Soldiers do die everyday fighting wars. These 4 men who were killed, were not soldiers in a combat zone. They were not casualties of war. They were murdered.

They were not told to stand down.
Check your facts.

Why the confusion? Did you not read the very source you provided? The quote is nearly two weeks old, and it was his mother*** Correction FATHER who said it. Have you stopped to ask why people began politicizing it the moment it happened? If you can't come to a conclusion, the fault lies in your allegiance to Obama, not in your understanding of what "should" or "shouldn't be" politicized...

No, they weren't. I'm not going to argue about it. You obviously have chosen to believe that Obama didn't lie to you. That's fine. But he did.

And, I'll go ahead and take responsibility about being misinformed about who the article was quoting. His father did make that quote. Never-the-less, 2 weeks before it was obvious that the truth had not been told.

I think you meant to say that you aren't going to double check.
Obama may be lying about something, but FOX et al are sure going to make it impossible to find out what. Obfuscation is not going to get us any answers.

I really liked the part where he said "prudence dictates that we postpone invetigations until AFTER the elections, due to the super-charged political envoronment"

In other words "this is potentially damaging to the messiah , so lets skip it until it no longer matters"'

This is what this is all about for you, making this event damaging to Obama's prospects for a second term. It's got little to nothing to do with the deaths of those Americans. Had this been a McCain presidency, people like you would have kept shut.

I wonder how you sleep at night knowing that you're using this tragic event to push the political agenda of one of the establishment parties? Since when did people become so intangled so selfishly into DC politics and red and blue? Since when did people like you willingly become pawns to push another establishment's agenda?

Hmm.
Lots of self righteous anger in this thread.
Too bad it's a waste of time.
This administration either hung them out to dry or are so incompetent it seems to be the case.
Either one is unacceptable because they then lied through their teeth about it.
Politicizing?
Yep. It happens a lot. On both sides.
Doesn't change what they did.
